Oasis didnt do the same subject manner though, happy clappy sing a long , forget about what is happening in your world for an hour or so . It can work on every single intellectual level . Better than listening to something morose . Its all about escapism , thats the Arts for you. And why I love `em ( the Arts that is ) . Same way some people will interpretate a song differently than you or I . I can take or leave the two of them , its all subjective

Oasis don't do happy clappy sing along? Go on then what do they do?

re- read the post there is a comma , happy clappy sing a long. What THEY PLAYED. ffs. I have been in a box at Cheltenham racecourse listening to a load of toffs singing along to Oasis , they like the beatles, stones, roses, pop artists so are the charletons . They are not of a higher or lower ilk , leave the snobbism at the door mate , you are on a football forum after all. Charletons were ok, as were oasis .

Tim Burgess used to be one of the lads before he went to California , he came back a Dick ,sadly it happens, he also did a christmas song : (

I'll level with you, I don't a have a fucking clue what you're going on about.[/quote]

And I thought you were a fan ;)he did it with some blonde girl from st.ettienne or someother .

Oh! they were Posh bankers, friends of the family who were all well educated posh boys ,that were happy clapping along to oasis during a race festival. They are definately high brow chaps , we at least found common ground when it came to music . Its all chart music out in the mainstream , you were the one espousing having a higher intellect because you listened to Tim . Oasis were liked by nearly every walk of life and the demographic from any of their gigs shows that . They were Popular music that everybody can listen too because its all been done before , even my 60 year old mum at a push could tell you the lyrics of Wonderwall and recognise one of their songs on the radio and she`s into fecking Daniel O Donnell FFS :)

Ah! Well all I can say is my post to TMQ (largely agreed to be a genius, btw) was very much tongue in cheek and not meant to be taken seriously.
I like both bands, I just find that overall I prefer The Charlatans over Oasis. But it's all about opinions and whatever mood I'm in at the the time.

Us and Us Only Quinny.

Dylanesque in parts.

I've just never been able to shake this image of The Charlatans as being a bit second rate.

Burgess seems to base his clothes and haircut on a new hip band/artist every year and it just seems a bit lazy to me.

Wonderland was a brilliant album, their best by miles.
I Was Born On Christmas Day by St Etienne and Tim Burgess is a favourite of mine.
That said, he is a bit of a musical magpie, nicking stuff all over the shop.
And he is not one per cent as talented as Mark Burgess, a true blue
