"Time To Go Mario"

I stand by my article but bow to Mancini's wisdom. Mario's been at it again this week saying that he wants to win the Ballon d'Or. Try a golden boot first eh Mazza? He also says that he can score whenever he wants. Well he musn't have wanted to against Arsenal. As I said in the article and throughout this thread, I really want to love him but he fucks up time and time again.

What's wrong with any of what you're claiming he said? You don't need to love him, you just need to give him a flipping break.

You stand by a piece of shit that said he single-handedly derailed our title bid? What a crock of shit that statement was. Granted, we all thought it was lost (though I collected £30 on the 13th of May for a bet I placed after Sunderland with another blue) after Arsenal but to lay the blame on Balotelli who'd scored more points-winning goals than anyone but Aguero (who was only ahead by ONE point at that time as I recall)? Complete and total overreaction. You can't even lay the blame at his feet for the Arsenal defeat because he wasn't sent off until very very late on, after they'd already scored the winner. It was unlikely that him staying on would have made any difference. That match was always going to be difficult as soon as Yaya went off (almost fucked us against QPR too - a far lesser side at home), and no Silva as well, away from home, to Arsenal. Balotelli was scapegoated to fuck by emotional blues who were drowning their sorrows over a title loss and you were one of the ones leading the charge.

I agree that he didn't single handedly derail our title bid. The OP went too far in stating this, but I'll cut him some slack given the highly emotional state he would have been in when writing it.

However, I think people are too quick to defend Balotelli sometimes. Although, he wasn't the sole cause of our "derailment" he was definitely a contributor. His conduct and general performances around that time were poor (Swansea,Stoke and obviously Arsenal).

Whether you like it or not there was a direct correlation between his absence from the team and our return to form at the end of the season.

As I stated at the time, if you read through this thread, the line "single handedly derailed the title charge" didn't come across as I'd meant it to. What I meant was that at crucial times, such as Sunderland, Arsenal and Stoke away, it was almost becoming the Mario show. Can you honestly say that he didn't piss you off at any of these times?

I like him, I really do. I just want this brattish behaviour to stop. He went through a patch where he was turning the media onto his side. After the Noel Gallagher interview though (the timing was weird) he just seemed to start believing he was special. I've almost completely forgiven him but want to see him turn into the player that we know he could be and he claims to be. Another handful of incidents like last season though will see the same headlines and results. I admit the media love it when he gives them a headline but the point is that he does. Joe Hart's reaction at Arsenal let us see the frustration of the players. The way he sloped off the pitch was disrespectful to the team. I acknowledge that Kolarov took the ball off him at home to Sunderland but why is it that Mario is always involved.

It wasn't a knee-jerk, overreaction as you suggest Skashion. I sat with my 5 year old lad in tears when SSN said he wouldn't play for us again. He worships him. I found it hard to explain that Mancini might sell him because he acts like a dickhead. His age and background have got to be put in the past sooner or later. I would dearly love him to become a City legend but simply cannot see it with the way he carries on presently.

You would think he held the club to ransom saying we lack ambition or left for 6 months and then just popped back. Seems more like he shagged his best mates bird? No? Maybe his brothers wife? No?

4 red cards in 2 years you say? Ahhhhh how many goals? Ohhh good for the goose is good for the gander you say?

Shows a lack of understanding at this level so if he has been sent off 4 times in over 40 games how is that a common factor? He scores a goal every second game which strikers in the world have that return?

And he scores his or assists in the big games and crucial moments.

The derailing bit was over the top but the article itself was not overtly crictical. If anything he came across as a Mario fan reluctantly fed up with his antics.

It really is time for Mario to take a bit more responsibility. Mourinho described him as unmanageable. Mancini his biggest fan questioned whether to keep him here and dropped him at the early part of the season due to his behaviour, similarly the Italian manager has told him his behaviour has to improve and dropped him from the national team set up. For a striker there is no need for the amount of bookings and sendings off, particularly as with the exception of reckless kicks he rarely makes challenges during a game.

Hopefully the penny will drop and he will become the player we know he can be.

No, there was a direct correlation between all our crucial players returning and us returning to form.

Tevez and Silva's return to form definitely made a difference.

I'm not a Balotelli hater by any means, he's a talented lad and I want him to do well. But I still have reservations about his temperament, teamwork and his ability to produce the goods on a consistent basis.

Yes, I can honestly say that. I have a dozen blues who I travelled to London with who'll back me up on that.

I think Mario's a good guy. That's my call and I'll swing from the noose by it. The people closest to him say he's got a heart of gold, including Rafaella after she split up with him. I think he was in the right against Kolarov as well. He behaved like a tit (and I like Kolarov). That free-kick was suited to Balotelli rather than Kolarov. If it was on the other side of the pitch I'd be on Kolarov's side and he behaved more the tit than Balotelli. Yes, the guy knows he's a special talent but he also knows he needs to work. He said it today but you've conveniently left that out of your quotes. He said he needs to get much better before he wins it.
