one thing manu and pool did when dominating the league was keep a back four intact they understand each others failures and strengths and when change happened they went out and bought the best they could there is nothing wrong with the best defense for the past three years but too much tinkering and playing a high back line when most of your defense is slow is suicide kompanys injuries this year are most probably down to the high back line which suggests when he eventually comes back he will get injured again

We are just so weak with direct play, a long ball forward and we cannot deal with it. That is basic defending. It seems odd that the only away game we have won is at Upton Park against a Sam Allerdyce side!

Totally agree. Big Sam on his own admission didn't play a striker -he was hoping that the team that won at Spurs would do the same against City. Over the years the top sides have had strong back 4/5ives. Arsenal , Rags ,Chelsea.
Mancini could see that - but didn't he get slaughtered for playing 2 Dm's. Barry and DJ with Milner gave us solidarity when our back 4 were the best in the league for 3 seasons. Now times have moved on -we need young strong players that can play at a high intensity - similar to Bayern and Dortmund. We will not be getting shut of Pellergrini so we have to be patient and hope that in a couple of years we do have the team we all want.
