Tino Livramento

I'll be shocked if we can sign him this summer, but if he's happy at Newcastle we simply have to move on and hopefully sign someone who can strengthen us at RB.
The real window opened last week. Tino's had ample opportunity to definitively tell us no, either privately through his agent or publicly. As far as we know, he's done neither.

I'm pretty sure if Sunderland or Birmingham City made a bid to bring him to the Championship, there'd be an emphatic, big fat "Fuck Off" (in more polite terms) being publicly reported alongside pictures of him kissing the Newcastle badge, whist holding a picture of Alan Shearer.

He's young & has to a decision to make, because opportunities like this may only appear once in his career & the regret of passing up the opportunity to be coached by Guardiola at Manchester City, could last a lifetime.

I like him and think he's a good coach, well respected for his honesty, unlike most estate agents! He's done well at Newcastle in a tricky job. (I personally wouldn't be surprised if we're keeping an eye on him as a possible future manager?)

He's done a god job so far. Will he become one of the best managers in the world? Absolutely not

What do you reckon he should say? Am not happy? I want to leave? Come on he ain’t going say anything like that and his last interview tells me he is more open for a move than not, if Newcastle will let him go!

Not to us but I'm sure Txiki and Hugo are beavering away behind the scenes evaluating who will suit us for the right price. Livramento is well overpriced if 80M is what Newcastle want. That's if they agree to sell but I can't see it happening.
We paid that for Gvardiol with a view to him being a mainstay in our defence for the next decade. Livramento has the added advantage of being HG too.

£80m over a 10 year career is nothing in today's modern era for an international footballer who ticks so many boxes. We just need to get an agreement with the player first & Newcastle second.

The pursuit of Livramento makes complete sense on so many levels, just as Stones & Walker did when everyone said we'd been rinsed by overpaying for them. The football world quit saying this years ago, when they saw how both players turned out under Guardiola's tutelage.

After the clearout, it should be all City guns blazing for Livramento & MGW.

He's been in Slovakia with the England squad since early June.
When they return home, there may be more news.

I read the Newcastle forum and they expect their business to start from July 1st, something to do with PSR, and that Howe wants things done quickly this summer. Gained no impression from them that Livramento would leave, however. They’re as convinced there as people on here, much like the Guimaraes saga.

Nah! We will be looking at Vinny K. He will be the man.

Next season must be one where we rebuild & forge the next iteration of Guardiola's squad. If we don't win a bean in the process, then so be it.

The time we should've addressed our succession planning was after the treble. It was stone cold obvious from then that the all conquering treble team was coming to the end of an epoch & needed a major refresh, but we failed to act & are now paying the price.

We need to concentrate our efforts on the players who'll form our base of our future squad, & let those from our glorious recent past go with honour & grace. It's this simple... )(

Nunes, Stones, Gundo, Kovacic will all stay. I'd be shocked if Jack stays, unless its all part of the master Pep plan

he needs to go on and win a higher profile cup now or even the league. Dont see Newcastle sticking with him too much in the future if he only brings in a League Cup!

We should be looking at Guehi as well to replace Stones last year of his contract that would be HG and defence sorted for a few years

I assume it’s already been discussed too, but Tino is currently on circa £50k per week so would probably be tripling that if he came to us. No wonder he’s keen….

Gvardiol is the best young cb in the world and came with abilities on the ball that very rare for cb.

I agree Tino is a great player and would love him here as I think he would really well. I just see the price tags as silly. For that sort of price you are expecting a world class rb even if they are homegrown.

Newcastle will be looking for silly money to even consider selling him. And we've shown in the recent past that we won't pay x for a player, if we don't think he's worth it. Rice and Wirtz are the two obvious examples that spring to mind straight away. And, unless they have PSR issues that I haven't heard about, why would they sell one of their best players? And to a rival? It just doesn't add up. But, I guess 7 pm on sept 1st will tell the tale.

Hope I'm wrong!

He is good player but his ability on the ball is not good enough. We have the enforcers like that already in Bah, Khush and Ruben. We need a defender that breaks the lines to replace Stones. A homegrown Reis would be perfect

Like I said earlier, Livramento has had ample opportunity to publicly & emphatically say "no" to City & to pledge his future & undying allegiance to the Geordies. He's yet to do so.

I can see another scenario playing out. If Newcastle believe he's an £80m player, why aren't they paying him accordingly? What they're asking for him & what they're reputedly paying him, just don't align.

It is what it is. Most rate Livramento as the best young English RB at the moment. He ticks almost every box we require, so I think it best we take a long-term view of him, as we did with Gvardiol.

No player is guaranteed to succeed. Every transfer come with risk. Fortunately for us, Gvardiol has worked out well so far, & in years to come, the £80m spent will be seen as a snip.

We need Livramento & we need to clear the decks with the perpetually injured, elderly & those who're now deemed surplus to requirements. Once we get fees in for who we can, & consider the wages saved, we should have more than enough funds & squad space to secure not just Livramento, but MGW too.

True Jim but in a market place where top RB’s that are attainable are at a minimum, let alone homegrown and at an age he can improve and possibly be with us 10 years then the club will possibly view say £75m is a good long term investment? If we aren’t doing MGW either abd have saved money from not doing Wirtz then it maybe the one to push the trigger on. @tolmie's hairdoo said weeks ago that if we signed him that Livramento would be our most expensive signing this summer as well
