feels natural to me ...tho I wouldn't spend more than 65m on MGW

I used to hate on MGW but I like the guy. Will help us off the ball, defensively in transitions, pressing, crossing, running power in attacking transitions

And we need the HG quota.

I agree with everything you said. It’s very logical but need I remind you, Alvarez had the most mins in our team during the 4Peat. He played more than Foden, Rodri and Ederson. And guess what ? He still wasn’t happy because he missed the last few games when we secured the league. Started 31 games btw and we would sub him off at the 75th min. And he left to play every single game/min. Now he’s crying that the team he’s in isn’t competitive but that’s not important rn.

Just pointing out that there’s players are obsessed with football. It’s a short career. Even worse when they’re older. That’s why players like Gundo refuse to leave and still think they’re at the level. Walker didn’t know he was washed until this season.

Things were different with Alvarez. He wanted to be the main man at No 9, & that was never gonna happen with Superstar Erling at the club.

Julian only played as the main striker when Erling was unavailable, but the rest of the time he was a No 10, or played out wide. As a WC & treble winner, he wanted to play more in his preferred position, something City were unable to offer him with Haaland clearly being ahead of him.

Exactly. No point going into another season where it’s “guess who is right back today” when the team sheet comes out, Akanji or Rico or Nunes etc etc.

We need a first choice top right back, and like @tolmie's hairdoo has said, we paid £50mil for Walker all those years ago, so what’s the big deal paying £70mil for Livramento now when he could be playing for us for the next 10 years.

Well it hasnt been denied so there is hope. Agree though, we NEED that top RB to even think about fighting the dippers for the title.

Anything happening with the goalkeeper situation? Ederson close to a new deal or does he still want to leave be a bit bad to go into the new season with both Keepers only having 12 months left.

Seen the rags are linked to Costa and he seems to be our number one replacement?

The two caveats in my guess list are Nunes & Kovacic. I think they'll be the last ones considered for the chop, once we know who's definitely surplus to requirements & who will definitely remain. It all comes down to squad numbers & our foreign & HG quotas.

However, Pep can't have it both ways. He wants to win the 4 main competitions we're in season after season, but do it with a tiny elite squad whilst complaining there's too much football being asked of our players.

It's simple. Tell the players they'll receive ample game & rest time throughout the season. Personally, if my game time fell from 50 to 40 games per season just like everyone else in the squad, as we fight on multiple fronts, not including internationals, you wouldn't catch me complaining.

This whole shtick about squad harmony related to game time is bollocks. If everyone plays 40+ games per season, & gets the same amount of rest, what's there to be upset about in the changing room?

I never want to see situations again like Rodri being out on his feet after 60 mins at the Etihad, as we're beating a relegation threatened team 4-0. How many times has Pep left it until 75+ minutes to start making changes whilst those playing are being rinsed to death in their 3rd march of the week? There's absolutely no need, & last season we paid the price as our players collapsed, physically, mentally & emotionally.

I have to agree. This whole "I dont like a 'big' squad because those left out are sad" just doesn't wash. There should be internal competition for places, its healthy, it raises standards. If you get left out of the squad for a big game who's fault is that? Anyway, there are enough youngsters in the squad to save the ego's of the senior players. In the multi competition arena that we operate in, how do you rebuild with a small squad? You need to leave head room for mistakes and injuries.

We don't need homegrown quota, and as it stands haven't any room for homegrown. If we do make some room right back would be priority.
