Tino Livramento

The hilarious thing is that if Nunes was playing for Monaco and put in the performances he did last year, this forum would be shouting his name up.
He got better for sure but he had shockers as well.

That derby game, dear god he crumbled.

I found when he was paired with Bernie he really started to find his confidence and play better. Remember that assist where Silva is shouting at him to cross it in then goal. That pair definitely works.

Has anyone not had a shocker, especially last season.

Not having nobody has watched every 90mins Livramento has played, we are just looking at highlights or recalling particular moments of him but many are crying out to spend 80m on him.

Nunes definitely worth persevering with, we’ve got enough cover. Specialist right back can wait for now.
I agree. He will still have a few mistakes in him but he's getting better and learning from past mistakes I'm not worried at all if he is going to play mostly at RB this coming season. I would like Livramento but we ain't gonna sign him anytime soon, if at all.

I've watched plenty of Newcastle highlights to get an idea of Livramento's level and to be honest plenty of the play isn’t that great

Tell me a team that doesn't have a weakness. You saying we should pay over the odds just so we can say we have a right back?
Vanderson is 40mil euros. If we could've paid that for Phillips we should do it for someone who'd be the only proper right back in our club.

I think we should absolutely keep Nunes but make him play his actual position - midfield. He'd be a great back-up for Reijnders. But we do need a right back. Livramento is 80mil, Gusto 60mil and Vanderson 40mil. All great options.

But he was shite for most of the season.

I don't get this revisionism about the guy just because he got a late winner against Villa and managed to not look like an utter liability for the last few weeks against crap teams who had nothing to play for.

After Josko and Haaland I thought he was 3rd in our player of the season. Although I based that on actually watching him play every week.

I'm not arsed where you rated him. He was crap.

The idea that we'd all be begging to sign him if he performed like that in another league is just nonsense.

You know why it's nonsense? Because literally nobody has enquired about him this summer.

There are plenty of better right backs who had better seasons both in England and abroad and they're getting basically no mention on this forum.

Selective memory.

DIas makes the starting 11 for most people here but his season was more deserving the "shite" tag than Nunes and it's not even close.
Only reason Dias is still a starter is his mentality and „ leadership“. I guess screaming on the field helps being a starter.

It depends what sort of RB we were looking for. One who's decent going forward but not great defensively, or someone who can shut the best wingers in the game down.

I doubt he'd get mentioned much, unless it was by know nowts if the second scenario was the case.

I'm just not sure that Ait-Nouri (who I really like) and Nunes are defensively sound enough to be part of a back 4 against top teams. One yes, joining the attack if the other FB is defensively solid but both if we are under the cosh, or it's an open game, I'm not sure tbh.

So you're privy to all communications the club receives about players because my guess is its a few more than you think.
"Matheus Nunes wasn't shit because Ruben Dias was shit" isn't a valid counterpoint.
Sue me - I trust Nunes in my 11 more than Dias and no one is giving Dias unrelenting shit.

Also you can't argue a counterpoint as invalid when your presupposition is inherently based on assumption: I never said Nunes was shit.

Last season most people on this board were losing their shit.

We righted it somewhat towards the end- avoided dropping out of the top 5. If you think Dias had more to do with that than Nunes you're simply only seeing what you want to see. No one had a stellar season.

He played out of posotion all season out of necessity... he was up and down. A player like Dias played exactly where he was expected to and had a shit season and still he's a starter no questions asked.

Speaking of valid points- Praying and wishing we had new players instead of working with what we have isn't exactly working either is it?
