Ferguson is the first to complain about fixture pile up. Google it, you will find results every year for the past decade.

But they still play the games and invariably they win

What other teams complain about it?

Barca, Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool (in the past) Bayern etc etc

You will see a pattern emerge if you look at the teams complaining and their sucess.

Guardiola

All in the past 2 months

As for Bayern, they have an 18 team league and the extra 4 games is given back as a months break in January.

And as a further point, we have a much thinner squad than United and Arsenal. Yes we have spent a lot of money, but we have let a lot of players go. We don't currently have a 25 man squad believe it or not. That's no fault but our own, but it also means that we are being stretched a lot more than others are.

Is it that they're established at the top and haven't just shipped in virtually a whole squad in the last couple of years as well as half a team in the last few months?

No, its that they are always in the latter stages of cup competitions at the same time as contending the league year in year out.

Look at the quotes above - not bad company is it.

Would people prefer us having no fixtures other than league games at the minute. If you think that would guarantee us winning the league, it most certainly wouldnt.

Who is the last team to win the league that werent also involved in at least one cup competition in March?

I don't know Al, I just think it's a bit much to compare an up and coming side to the established elite. Yes we're aiming to emulate them, some of us just aren't daft enough to think you spend a pile of cash and expect to do everything they do in the flick of a switch.
