Apparently Joan Francesc Ferrer, otherwise known as 'Rubi', will take over. He's former manager of Girona. He joined the Barcelona coaching team during the summer.

Ronald Koeman is free, but doesn't really have the credentials. Frank de Boer has done a brilliant job at Ajax (as we found out much to our dismay), but he's said previously that he's committed to Ajax. Rijkaard and Cruyff could be possible interim solutions. Jupp Heynckes, despite retiring in the summer, could possibly be tempted back into football by the Barcelona job.

I'd suggest they go for Frank de Boer personally, but it'll be tough to prize him away from Ajax.

Prising a manager from another club wouldn't be a problem, if only there was an available manager out there with a track record of winning trophies in more than one country.......

Sad news if the illness has come back. Time to fight (and beat) it, but the right thing to do is take a step back from the stresses of a managerial job.
