To boo or not to boo ....

I don't like it at all. It makes us look bad to the rest of the world.
No it doesn't, it says we think you're a corrupt organisation and we've known for a while. And we're not as naive as other fans. Remember, these fines we paid come partly from OUR hard earned wages and I'm looking forward to seeing what that faux Napoleon and mock Kaiser have been treating themselves to, to vindicate us.

It genuinely staggers me people actually believe booing this anthem is sending some sort of message.

This is an organisation that turns a blind eye to racism and corruption, they don't give a fuck about that. "Let's fine a club about £5 for continuous racism and give golden handshakes to other equally corrupt people, but if our anthem gets booed let's set up a fucking ethics inquiry, sack everyone, give free tickets to fans for the rest of their lives and have a public stoning of Platini in the middle of City square".

People are beyond help if they think a bit of booing at the Etihad is going so make the slightest fuck of difference.

If you want to drown out the anthem for your own personal gripes, just sing blue moon. You booers tell me, what looks and sounds better, strangled booing from about one quarter of the attendance or the whole stadium drowning it out in Blue Moon?

In fact, i don't think I want to know the answer to that.

Booing is a universally recognised, non-violent, sophisticated and historical way to express displeasure. It's the right thing to do. It's not designed to force change but only to bring attention to something that isn't up to standard. And if there's anything in the world that isn't up to standard, it's UEFA.

A bunch of grown adults going boooooooooooooooooooooo to a song is sophisticated?

I'd understand (not agree) for the first few times, but the fact it continues is just odd. It doesn't even get the support to be properly audible.
People need to move on, and that's from someone that wasted a few hundred quid with Moscow travel.

Agree on your last point.

I think our CL performances show the booing has far more of an impact on the players than on UEFA. They'll be wondering why they should put in a shift in a competition the fans sound like they don't give a shit about.

I agree with doing something, but stating in the concourses for the anthem or singing Blue Moon through it rather than booing are far les likely to have that possible negative impact on our players.

Yes, even from adults (I think most will be grown[emoji10] ) . What's the alternative non-violent option? Singing Blue Moon just says we are ignoring UEFA which isn't the point.

And it came over loud and clear on TV and around me when I was at the Juve game. It obviously sounds different wherever you are sat.

It will hopefully not be needed soon.

Tbh always feel pathetically embarrassed when we do.

Shouting as loud as you can about how much you hate something while paying to partake in it.

Save your money and boo till your lungs give out in the living room, unless you think disrespecting the pinnacle of your player's careers is so essential.

It's the singlemost childish, naive, small-time thing we do, can't wait for us to just give it a rest.

The atmosphere was insane when we scored last night, can we just remember that we actually enjoyed a few seconds of a CL game and get over it.

Filling the ground with blues rather than tourists and creating a "hamburg" type atmosphere giving the team a lift and making it a daunting place for the opposition is the answer rather than puerile booing. The only thing Platini & co dont want is to see Vincent holding their trophy aloft and thats not looking likely at all at the moment and the booing doesnt harm anyone other than MCFC

I can kind of see both sides of this argument.

It is pretty stupid when you look at it away from our point of view. Could you imagine explaining to someone; "so yeah, we know the shop is corrupt but i've bought the laptop from there anyway, the thing is, tomorrow i'm going down to the shop to stand outside and boo them for being corrupt!" It's the same with the stupid Arsenal bedsheet the other year. "so yeah, i've bought a mattress from this shop that was hugely expensive and tomorrow i'm going down to the shop to put a bedsheet up outside complaining that their mattress was too expensive".

You'd be laughed at! by the people you're explaining it to and then by the shop owners. We were probably laughed at by the PremLg about the bedsheet thing and by UEFA for the booing.

But i can see that we like to show that we're not a fanbase that will just pander to UEFA and sing along to or applaud their theme when we know they're a bunch of racists who wanted to restrict us as a club with FFPR. I can totally see the point of us booing after the Moscow fiasco and i can see the point of making a point that we will never be onside with UEFA until they change as an organisation.

Funny one this. I don't know which side of the argument is right.

It's more like you've bought a laptop to be used under certain conditions to be told then that they are charging you more because they have changed the conditions which you were promised wouldn't change, but others are not being charged even though they broke the conditions even more.

Where's that number for Watchdog?

Do people actually think the booing negatively affects the players? Do you really think a bit of booing is going to throw off their whole game. If it was me the booing would spur me on even more.

Using your analogy Id go to another shop that wasn't corrupt, the club don't really have a choice. The booing is the only way that the fans can show that we don't like UEFA due to the way the club and the fans have been treated. It doesn't make us look small time, as there is a growing trend with fans to show that we are not happy with the organisation and in some cases the clubs themselves for the high ticket prices. There are many fans who choose to stay away others go and take the opportunity to boo the anthem, its doesn't ahve any affect on the players and I'm sure they are aware, if they can hear it, of the reasons for it.

your shop analogy doesnt work, unless the shop is the only shop available.

The booing is a joke, if you don't like it don't pay to watch it.
I really think it does have a negative effect on everybody from players to other fans, I understand and agree why it is booed but cant we just sing thru it instead? it will get the atmosphere going and will get more people involved, the lads love these games and apart from playing in a world cup the champions league is the height of a players career!
lets stop being childish and get the place rocking on a champions league night. imo the whole night was flat till kdb scored the winner!!! I long for another Hamburg night!

According to the Daily Fail... ''MCFC are to be charged following their fans booing the CL anthem last night''
