I have another question for our Balkans (might be dumb..)

Before the yugoslav wars, was there a Yugoslavian football team? And would serbs, croats, bosnians, and the rest all play on the same national squad? A yugoslav football team would be pretty damn good nowadays

<a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugoslavia_national_football_team#Competitive_record" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yugoslavia ... ive_record</a>

We southerner's like more pacy cheering, thus this:

But yours ain't bad one bit :)

P.S. I'm a Rag fan (since 1993), but ofc I'm also a Dzeko fan and I've been following this forum ever since Dzeko joined and cheering for City on every game I've watched. So this season I hope City wins the premier league (cause you guys deserve it with this team), so next season can be exciting as hell and a true all-out competition between the 2 Manchester clubs :)

for real

or am i having my leg pulled

I watched the 1990 world cup and it seems to be the last time Yugoslavia sent their national team. They were damn good, fast with beautiful passes and only beaten in the quarter final by bad luck.

I saw that Yugoslav team in 1991 when they won the Euro 1992 qualifying group before, because of the conflict, they where replaced by Denmark who then went onto win the tournament. A class outfit!

Anybody tell me the make up of that team, as in what of the 'new' Balkan countries the players where from?

It would be more than just good. First thing you have to consider is that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would probably be on the Yugoslavian team. He wanted to play for us (Bosnia), but our stupid corrupt federation demanded money from him in order to play. Hard to believe. A Yugoslavian federation wouldn't be like this. But just imagine an attack combo consisting of Dzeko and Ibrahimovic. Vidic and Ivanovic as defenders. Modric being the general in midfield. Begovic is a great goalkeeper as well. A lot of other quality players as well: Pjanic from Lyon, Krasic from Juventus, Stankovic from Inter, Kranjcar and Corluka from Tottenham, Handanovic the keeper from Udinese (who made a lot of great saves against England in the World Cup) and a lot of others. It would be one hell of a team, but the stupid war ruined it.

Anyway, back to the thread subject: The song is awesome! :D

If you're talking about me being Rag fan, then yes it's for real. But I'm not a fanatic and I'm not even an UK national (Bosnian in fact), so I wouldn't consider myself to be a "true Rag fan" as you guys would put it. I'm more of a guy who enjoys watching football from time to time, and Rags was the team I choose to support when I was 8 years old :P.

And since I'm very loyal by nature, thats the team I stick with. But, due to lack of being born in Manchester and not having all the hatred towards bitter rivals like you locals do, I can have an objective perspective and enjoyment of the game :)

And in my eyes, this season City has a better team so I hope you guys win the EPL, being the underdogs for so long, you totally deserve it. And being an underdog fan supporter of my local club (FK Velez Mostar), I know whats it like to have a glorious past and then be shit for a long long time.

The team from, say, the World Cup '90 had players from all six Yugoslav republics, to name some, all great: Pancev (Macedonia), Katanec (Slovenia), Prosinecki, Suker, Jarni, Boksic (Croatia), Stojkovic (Serbia), Susic (Bosnia), Savicevic (Montenegro). Around that time other players from the country were coming into their own: Boban, Kodro, Mijatovic, Jugovic, Mihajlovic, etc etc etc.

Not to forget, a Yugoslav club, Red Star Belgrade, won the Champions League in 1991 (the last European Cup before it became CL) and that team was incredible: Prosinecki (later Barca, Madrid), Mihajlovic (Lazio, Inter), Savicevic (Milan), Stojkovic (Marseille), Jugovic (Juventus), etc.

I watched the 1990 World Cup in Split....Our hotel was half English/ half German. The semi was like derby day on the Kippax!

Ibrahimovic would be playing for an Ex-Yugo team instead of Sweden if war hadnt broke out.
