Yup! I stated at the time that we were silly to buy Demechelis, and hand Athletico the money to buy Toby, when we could have just gone and gotten Toby ourselves for less.

At the time I thought it was a poor decision, even if Demichelis was a good player.

Our front office has lacked long-term common sense for a while now.

Partly because our front office and our manager are not on the same page. Its not as bad as Bobby but while Toby would have been the wise decision, Pellers got Demi because he wanted him. Likewise, Caballero was pure stupidity but we got him because Pellers wanted him. Likewise our holistic approach is to play a 4-3-3 at all levels though our 1st team gets to play 4-2-2-2. Pellers and Tixki just don't see eye to eye.

Wasn't too impressed with him at Athletico, but this season he's been excellent, and given what Tolmie said in the other thread about Belgians, this may be a goer.

What I like about Alderweild though is his versatility, he can play RB CB and CDM well, and can also fill in as an emergency RM.
