Can't see it - think we'll stick with Kompany at 4th choice. When Otamendi, Stone and Laporte are all fit, Vinnie won't get any game time to be able to injure himself! I can see Vinnie just playing a cup role next season and he really should be able to manage that given the gaps in between.
Assuming we sign another DM option next season, Fernandinho is a more than capable 5th choice as well.
We should really be moulding someone for the 4th spot once Vinnie retires, not going out to market. We have potentially done that anyway with the signing of Philippe Sandler, who looks like he could be a tidy pickup. Give him another year on loan at a better club and he'll then be 22 and perhaps ready to take a spot in our squad.
If the club do feel like we have to sign another player, it will be someone like Evans, not one of the best CB's in the league - that ship sailed when we signed Laporte.
In any event, we're well stocked at the CB position for now in my opinion.

Correct.Even in a world where Kompany leaves, Otamendi, Laporte, Stones and Alderweireld is too many IMO.

A definite yes from me, he's a very good defender who can also play left back if needed. With the amount of games each season it'd be good to be able to bring in absolute top quality in every position when the first choice are injured, rested or suspended.
Rose has been injured for most of the season. Recovered full fitness; played quite a few games; suffered a minor injury; now back in the reckoning again. Still very much a part of Poch's plans.
As to Alderweireld not travelling to Turin, there's nothing to read between the lines. He's been out injured for over three months and he's simply not fit enough yet for a game of this magnitude. Poch doesn't want him to suffer a secondary injury. That's all.

If the reports about his £25m release clause is true for 2019, then I'd be curious to see Spurs' asking price for this summer. He's a potentially perfect Vinny replacement.
Hope he leaves English football. Coz frankly, I can't see him anywhere other than United if he stays in the league.Right player, wrong time. If we replaced Kompany with Alderweireld there's no way we could keep all four CBs happy. As long as he goes anywhere but United I'll be alright with it.

I'd imagine that Spurs will want him to sign a new contract and stay at the club for a few more years! And I think that that is still the most likely outcome.

I don't think he'd make a good Vinny replacement at all. We can't have 4 CBs who expect to play every game. The 4th CB needs to he someone old like Vinny, someone experienced but mediocre like Evans, or an academy guy like Tosin.
Unless we go to 3 at the back, which I seriously doubt. We average 70% possession. I doubt Pep takes off an attacker for another CB in too many games.

Superb defender but what are the stats behind recovery from a serious hamstring injury like he had?. I think this would be a case of buying just to keep him from going to a rival.
