True. The laws in South Carolina state you have the right to use deadly force when you are at risk of harm to life or property. Despite the laws, killing a drunken 20 year old for mistakingly going to the wrong house is disturbing.

It could have been terrifying for the homeowner, he/ she wouldn't have known it was just a drunken kid. What if it were someone intent on doing them harm ?

I am sure it was a terrible ordeal for the homeowner at the time but I don’t know if he feels any better knowing a complete misunderstanding turned into a senseless killing.

I doubt anyone is celebrating but hindsight is 20/20. As I said, the alternative could have been worse
 
There are places in the world where houses are painted in different colours so that the 'drunken man' could determine which house was his, so as to avoid mistakenly entering someone else's.

When you live somewhere people are armed you shoot before you are shot and that's why these things happen.
