Tom Lockyer - Luton captain collapses during their match against Bournemouth.

I can’t see him being able to play again. Luckily for him both collapses have happened at the safest venues possible. Obviously linked to football but still. If it’s going to happen there is no safer place for him to have it.

With his PL wage increase, I hope he sees he can still work within the game and will already be financially stable enough to give up playing.
If he does indeed have to retire, I'm guessing that there'll be a tidy lump sum heading his way from somewhere. His, the club's, or the PFA insurance scheme. Plus a comfortable pension, I'm guessing. So he's unlikely to have any meaningful financial hardship. And he might get a job coaching somewhere as well. His priority as of now is getting well.

I fully get why he pushed to come back this summer - he came through the leagues with Luton and surely never dreamed of playing PL football.

Now though, he needs someone to put an arm around him and ensure he realises there is more to life than football.

I wish him well and a speedy recovery. It's always distressing to see someone collapse and you realise that health and wellness is always the first priority of life no matter who you are.

If he had a heart surgery the first time from that play off final. Surely the medics/doctors would have told him that he shouldn't play professional football again as the risk is too great.

It's happened a 2nd time and as awful as it is to say. He needs to retire from playing professional and maybe work as a coach/pundit or something he could have value to the game instead of risking his life.

I get he wanted to have the dream of playing premier league football which is why he decided to go back and play.

I still think Eriksen shouldn't have returned to playing football. The Italian football authorities are correct in not allowing players with heart conditions to play football.

Very sad. He was the pillar of Luton's promotion last season and is their number one defender. I really hope he makes a full recovery.
