Tom Petty R.I.P

Loved the guy/band. One of my top gigs was Manc Apollo in 1982 (Long After Dark tour) ..... A true great of American songwriters. Everything he did (pre Wilbury for me) was gold.

R.I.P.

So sad at this news. One of my favourite acts. First saw him supporting and blowing away Nils Lofgren at the Apollo in late 70's. Last saw him in July at Hyde Park - a superb gig: TP & Heartbreakers were just one of the great rock n roll bands.

I was at that gig in 77 too, one the best ive seen.Sadly the news is official he died at 8.40pm PT this morning.I echo everyone's thoughts

RIP Tom

A great rock star, with one of the best backing bands ever. Bought his album 'Full Moon Fever' twice, as I lost the first copy.
It was a collaboration with the Heartbreakers and Geoff Lynn, and a brilliant one at that.
When George Harrison was assembling the Wilbury's, any supergroup being formed at the time just had to include
Tom Petty, a sad, sad loss.

Sad, sad loss. Up there with Springsteen for me as an American songwriter. Just pure rock n roll. Also his collaborations with Stevie Nicks are fantastic. Saw him this summer at Wrigley Field in Chicago for his 40th anniversary tour. His solo album Wildflowers is still one of my favourite rainy day albums. It's clear out, but it's going on now.
