Sadly passed away on this day in 1993 aged just 30.

RIP.

can remember an early interview in either match weekly or shoot, where it was reported he would soon sign professional forms and his wages would rocket up to £250 per week..at the time i thought wow!

0-0 v Crystal Palace. Thought he would be England centre back for years.

He had played 100 league matches by the time he was 19 1/2.
That is Kelechi's age now. Mind boggling.

Great centre half from Kirkby. Thought he was man of the match along with Nicky Reid on the Saturday Cup Final v Spurs. They had great games against Archibald, Crooks, Ardiles etc, when both were just teenagers.

Thought he would go on to play for us for many years. Tragic that he died so young.

RIP big Tommy.

Loved TC,my earliest memories of him and Kevin Bond at cb,not many knew he was a scouser mind, but one of my boyhood heroes along with Bobby McDonald

Had great promise one of me fave players as a kid and had a plume of blonde hair he was like the David gower of the football world

I was in Manchester Royal Infirmary After a mad accident when I was 19 Both arms in plaster one leg in plaster & the other leg completely bandaged .Nurse knew I was a City fan & Tommy Caton was in getting treatment for a ankle problem ( No Private Hospital then Amazing !!!) He come in to see me but even though he tried could not help but burst out laughing, Really cheered me. up stayed and yapped for a decent amount of time RIP Tommy.

One minute I was delivering newspapers, reading about a pre season Skol Cup tournament in Edinburgh.

The next, (only two years later) I was chanting his name at the FA Cup Quarter Final replay against Everton

Everyone had a player who bridged the gap from childhood to tap room worship, and Tommy Caton was mine.
