Tommy Ramone,RIP.

Feeling a bit sad now, another one from my youth gone :(

Still, gonna bang on some old classics, never fails to get the blood coursing, and singing "Sheila is a punk rocker", just because when I first heard it that's what I thought the lyrics were !!!

Just finished downloading the first ten albums and added them to iTunes
Didn't realise i had the first ten alums

well i'll be 'chewing out a rhythm on my bubble gum' all night tonight

The best live band that most of the 'none-the-wiser' in the Ramones T-Shirts will never see. I hope those people actually take the trouble to listen to the real sound of New York rebellion.

One-off genius of a band whose influence will never die.

Genius indeed.

Sad news.

RIP Tommy.

The band I saw more often than any other (4 times, Apollo, International, Intl 2, Lycem London).
Fantastic band and crowd every time.

Think Tommy only played on first few albums but produced a lot of the others under the name of T Erdelyi?
Any road RIP Tommy and Da Brudders.

Really devastating news yesterday -the night before - possibly as Tommy was drawing his terminal breath I was telling my 16 year old daughter about the Ramones as we watched the banned songs documentary on BBC4 I saw them twice at the Apollo and Its Alive is still my go to album and one of the best live albums ever - no argument

Ref the T shirt thing -yep it gets on my pip and I don't know why -I see a 4 year old in one that his parents will have put on him/her as a fashion statement and I get miffed - however see a child of that age in a City shirt and I feel proud for them - its the same sort of thinking behind it and just an example of my warped sensibilities obviously.

In a similar vein I was in a local supermarket yesterday and the couple in front of me the guy looked like John Lennon - he was obviously aware of this as he had straight hair parted in the middle and sported little round specs. His Mrs was a rather large unit however.

When they had gone and to spark up conversation I said to the lad on the till

" His John Lennon impression was very good - she has got some work to do on that Yoko Ono one though "

He looked at me with a face like that on Phil Jones and said

" who are they then? Friends of yours ? "

He wasn't being sarky because as I found out he genuinely did not know ffs
