Tonga is basically underwater and I can only imagine the carnage - so naturally the BBC are banging on about the risk of spreading Covid-19 as part of the rescue effort. They've lost all sense of proportion.

Events like this kind of make you understand why religion and deities came into existence. I can't imagine how humans would comprehend an event like that a thousand+ years ago.

Hopefully, the damage to infrastructure and the loss of life is minimal.

didnt get much of a tsunami here, it was worse south of us and I believe parts of Peru got flooded in low coastal regions
