Zola said in his press conference that it was paper talk and he was not on strike - you cant get any clearer than that.

the situation with west ham was that he had gotten an agreement that they would let him talk to any side that offered £10m+, but when tottenham did, wham didnt want to deal with them (didnt want to sell to relegation rivals, would have gone down badly with the fans to sell to london rivals, and they were upset with tottenhams conduct) and refused him permission. then city did the same, but wham still wouldnt budge. bellamy had a meeting with them, said, hey, wtf. he didnt storm out of training as reported (there was only optional training that day), and was offered a new contract by wham, but refused. new offers came in the next day, he didnt train from then on, afaik.

He is a very good player who is handicapped by his attitude.

Whether he is the soret of player that a club with our ambition to move to a very high level very quickly should be after is another argument - but he is a very good player.

Bellamy is held out of a game 2 days before he is sold and obviously he's on strike.
