Tooth Removal

I have problems with my teeth-too many arrow bars ,spangles etc when I was a kid. I just had the remains of a capped tooth pulled and it took 7-10 days to star closing up..
Just don't suck around it or poke around with your tongue .It ached for a couple of weeks after the extraction.

An English teeth thread....cue the avalanche of jokes!

As a previous NHS dentist victim, I have suffered untold torture at the hands of Americans. However, most of my dental problems have come from the elbows of cunts on the football field! Once while playing for Leeds against Wigan, another while playing in the States! Needless to say, as one hits a half century, all that work comes home to roost and have spent the last year doing some serious dental work while I have decent insurance and can afford the copays! Implant in the front, because like the OP, not much to work with! That required four months of drilling out the shit bone, replacing it with some kind of material that grows into new bone. Basically placing a drywall screw receiver into the bone, and screwing in a dummy implant while it all sets and settles for another four months, then a temporary implant, and after Christmas the real McCoy! Meanwhile, I also had to have an unrelated root canal over a cracked back tooth and then a crown on that, with a few more crowns to come. Last time I was there, the dentist showed me another tooth she is keeping an eye on, because she said the filling looks like it is a filling on a filling on a filling and the previous dentists had just been “sparkling over the problem as the tooth was basically a crater they just kept filling in to try to save it. She was surprised it hadn’t cracked from being so hollowed out!

Anyway, all I can say is that the years of hard sugar sweets, Coca Cola, and wine gums & sports mixture (required while at the match!) have left their mark, plus the pathetic cleaning job I have apparently been doing in the interim were....well, pathetically inadequate....and I have become a zealot about dental hygiene with my kids and now myself! Sensodyne toothpaste, regular new soft toothbrushes, Listerine, Waterpik, floss and regular check ups!!! Wife (Yank) has, and always has had, perfect teeth!

Don’t like the sound of the dry hole in the OP, so I hope it all goes well, Nimrod! Tooth problems fucking suck!!!

I had a back tooth out on Wednesday, it had had a cap/crown in it for about 30 years but it fell out, had it put back in and it fell out again, so after some xrays they said the tooth has decay and needs to come out, but because it had been ground down there wasnt much visible tooth, anyway it took the girl about an hour to remove it.
Now Im left with a big crater and have had all these warnings about the 'blood clot'
apparently the bone is covered by the clot after extraction which if I disturb it I will have 'dry socket' which can be extremely painful for 7 to 10 days, as the bare bone will be showing, so Im on a kind of liquid diet, soup, yoghurt, mashed potatoes etc no chewing and no hot drinks.
Being very careful not to disturb the 'clot' (I hate the fucking clot !)

Fucking thing keeps aching like fuck...Im told its about a week or 10 days before the clot is safe.
Teeth are a fucking ball ache. I never knew about dry socket ffs, I really miss my tea and coffee.
Has any one else here had teeth issues ?
If you get a dry socket then you have all my sympathy. Had one years ago and genuinely probably one of the most unpleasant weeks of my life. It hurt like fuck, hardly slept for a week and was a thoroughly shitty experience. I was shoveling pain killers down my neck like sweets and they hardly made a difference. Dentist eventually gave me anti biotics for it, but not after fobbing me off for days about developing immunity to anti biotics and getting super infections.

Worth starting the thread to read that mate cheers :)

Got toothache myself tonight - bloody bits of filling came out when I was having my tea so I will be having a shitty weekend now.

Its funny but when you get past 45 or so your eyes start to fail and your teeth turn to into a chalk like substance - getting old stinks.

I had a back one out a couple of months ago, didn't stop drinking brews or smoking but I did rinse regularly with lukewarm salty water, didn't have any problems painwise other than what would be expected following such a procedure, took about a week for the swelling to subside and then it was all fine. Strangest thing was that the gap left felt like it was the size of at least 3 teeth rather than just the one.
