I noticed the other thread all the top films are old ones so this is just the last 5 years.

1) Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2020)
2) The Green Knight (2021)
3) The Worst Person in the World (2021)
4) How to Blow Up a Pipeline (2022)
5) Godzilla Minus One (2023)

Just missing out
Anatomy of a Fall
Drive My Car
Dune Part II
Old Henry
Palm Springs
Prey
Poor Things
Sisu
The Banshees of Inisherin

How did 3 turn into 5 ?

With 8 spares.

Cant think of one great film let alone three. This may take a while.

Ok after googling the best films since 2020, three stood out for me

The Lighthouse
The Father
Banshees
And even those pale to films of 30 to 40 years ago.

I reckon I've watched about 3 new films since 2020, one of those on a plane, so...

1. Everything Everywhere All At Once
2. Barbie
3. Địa Đạo (Vietnamese film about the Cu Chi tunnels)

None of those are a recommendation though.

Tar is a masterpiece. Easy to think it's slow and boring but there's a lot of hidden meanings and leaves you questioning things. Cate Blanchet superb actress.

Oppenheimer was very good.

can't recall anything else.

Banshees of Inisherin
Anatomy of a Fall
Aftersun

Also :
How To Blow Up A Pipeline
Poor Things
Evil Does Not Exist
Perfect Days

And not forgetting:

The Holdovers

Top Gun: Maverick
Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning

Oppenheimer was a bit dull, not enough explosions. Can’t think of anything else. Need more new movies like American Pie, Top Gun, spaghetti westerns and anything with long, high octane car chase scenes.

No more pretentious long titles with boring meandering storylines about some dull twat ‘finding themselves’.

Car chases, explosions, fighter jets, guns, boobs and more car chases please.

Oppenheimer (Very good)
Top Gun Maverick (Fantastic action film)
No Time To Die (Unfortunately a crap Bond film)

These I can't include but I love them, all 2019, a very good year imo.

Once upon a Time in Hollywood
The King
2017
Midsomer
The Lighthouse

I'll go with:

Eddington
Inisherin
The Killer
