Top 4 finish?

We'll boringly finish in the top four just by default because we simply have better players than the rest of this overrated bobbins league and scrape though to a top four finish.

We look so far away from being champion though, considering our staring XI quality today (just Kompany and de Bruyne away from our best side), it's infuriating!

If we miss out I don't think it will be as bad as some of us will make out.

It's clear with the money coming into the game and its distribution the big clubs dominating are likely to be a thing of the past.

We are as well placed as any club to continue to fight for trophies and eventually make a better fist of Europe.

Leicester might win the title this year and good on them but they are just as likely to finish mid table or be in a relegation fight next season despite being in the Chumps League.

I keep reading this about these so called amazing teams below the top sides because of the money in the Prem now but are any of the sides anywhere from 4th to mid table anywhere near the quality of us and Spurs from 2010 and 2011 when we were battling out to just get into the top four? Kompany, de Jong, Bellamy, Robinho, Tevez; Dawson, van der Vaart, Modric, Bale, Crouch, Defoe...?

Fucking no chance!
 
The state of this league this season where teams like Scousers drop points at home to Sunderland. And Arsenal drop points to any team who are up for it makes you wonder. We should be comfortably 7_10 points in front. But instead we fuck about and hand the initiative to Our nearest rivals every week
 
With about 10 games to go last season we had similar concerns. Same now.

Says everything about how this team has under performed under this clueless, inept manager.
 
There are certainly motivational issues within our camp. It's a farce that we petered out last season and this season looks the same.
 
Yeah I personally can't stand the Chumps League and all it stands for. But the fact remains that top players want to play in it and we will therefore still fail to attract the very best players if we are unable to guarantee Chumps League despite who our manager is and how much we can pay .

Yet when they had to they turned it on at the end of the season. I can only think their pay is heavily linked to where we finish because that finish made their efforts in the previous months look embarrassing. I would expect more of the same. We won't be winning the league though. That's 3 losses and a draw at home already. 11 points gone at home. It's not good enough. All against sides in the top half too. We are poor against better quality sides and managers that have the beating of our mediocre one.
 
I think we will still be up for the title come May but that's because everybody else is poor. Real changes need to be made in the summer.
 
I think we'll struggle on.

Hopefully we get top 4 but it's no guarantee and we look woeful.

Home and away.

Just shows how bad things are that in a season where we should be top dogs, we're looking just as likely to finish outside of the top 4 as we are in it.
 
some right flappers on here....we have this every year when we hit a bad patch

we are currently around 10/1 to finish outside the top 4.......flappers/rags fill ya boots
 
Not worried at all - there are what -39 points up for grabs FFS - anything and I mean anything could happen but I have confidence we have enough about us to make top 4 if not top 2. Would prefer us to win it and as I say there's a long way to go. We lost today. Not the end of the world as most posters seem to think

Quality and performance / result are not always aligned as they should at least not in the premiership.

We played a side today that not many of them would be regular starters for City nor would be that interested in bringing them to the club but were played off the park on our own patch in an embarrassing fashion , ditto , Stoke , ditto , Liverpool , ditto the youngest side in the premiership etc etc.

Each year with clubs able to bring in a better class of player like Leicester will be able to do in the summer it should in theory at least make them more competitive more often against more sides.

Its not that they are amazing its just the gap reducing and the top four sides being less amazing etc.

We are not amazing , we are a side filled with internationals that don't have the drive or will or work ethic to take the premiership by the scruff unlike Bayern or PSG do in their respective leagues.
 
Depends if we can some of our injuries back. Today has shown we have a serious battle on our hands, not to win it because we are clearly not good enough but 3rd 4th should be achievable providing like I say we get some of our injured players back.
 
Don't think we'll miss out on top 4, however I do think if United go on a run & someone were to miss out then we'd be the most likely candidate. Leicester just can't do no wrong, Spurs are looking the team to watch out for IMO & Arsenal will have a resurgence with Sanchez back I expect; unless Kompany provides a much needed boost to confidence & form then currently we look the weakest of those 4 in my opinion.

Think we need to remember only 2 teams look good this season (Leicester/Spurs), so unless 2 more teams really turn it around (i.e. Arsenal/United) then even going the way we are we should do enough to keep top 4 - and really you'd hope we could improve rather than continue the way we are.

Two sides have 10 more points than us over the past twenty games , one side 3 more having played one less game and three sides have one less point than us over the past twenty games.

Its going to be a grind to make top four given the injuries , the manager , the performances / results ( 9-5-6 woeful ) and the schedule we have.

Like your confidence but What makes think that by the way we are playing ? Spurs, Arsenal and Leicester have all the right qualities in terms of the balance of the team and work ethic of which we have none. This next set of fixtures will a stern test thats for sure. Personally I think we'll be 5th or 6th this year, were all waiting for this team to click but theres no sign of it, just flashes of individual brilliance and slices of luck that is somehow getting us by.

Are the players committed to improvement though?

We haven't won two games on the spin since October, its well below what is required and if we stay as is we are heading for a 68 point haul ( using our last 20 results as the benchmark ).

Don't think that will make top four this year.
