Liverpool would be much more of a threat that United with the players they might attract for being in the CL.

Plus they are a very inconsistent club, they’re always having up seasons and down seasons:

2016-17 4th on 76 points
2017-18 4th on 75 points
2018-19 2nd on 97 points
2019-20 1st on 99 points
2020-21 scraped into the Top4 on the last day on 68 points
2021-22 2nd on 92 points
2022-23 currently 5th on 66 points with a maximum they could get being 69 points.

So with Klopp being a top manager (much better than Ten Hag), I can see Liverpool mounting a title challenge again next season.

…United, will hover around 3rd to 5th again.

Newcastle and United only need 1 point from their last two games to guarantee top four and that's assuming Liverpool win their only remaining game which is Southampton away.

Newcastle have Leicester (H) and Chelsea (A)

United have Chelsea (H) and Fulham (H)

Basically it's back to Thursday night football for the scousers.

United will do fuckall in the CL whereas the dippers would be a lot more dangerous. So I will take the lesser of two evils and vote for united...spit...

Liverpool don't get their targets even if they get CL. United under new ownership and CL to offer can buy anyone, and they have a decent manager too.

Thing is Liverpool could be OK again next season. Better for us they slog the Thursday nights, Utd would go out of a half decent CL group anyway.
But they won't be given a half-decent group because according to UEFA, they're the seventh best team in Europe (really). Ahead of all the teams that got further than them in the EL this season. Ahead of Juventus, who actually qualified for the CL, got further than them in the EL, and don't have a recent history of regularly missing out on CL qualification. Ahead of Inter, who are in the final. So basically, there will be the pot of league winners, and they'll somehow be in the second pot after that.
