But they'd be in the Europa wouldn't they? Or has that rule changed now? And anyway, their creditors are hardly going to take the loss of Chimps League revenue well. Fire sale in January, I tell you.

Even if they were in the Europa League, they wouldn't be taking that as seriously as the CL. Consequently, they would field weaker teams in Europe, concentrating on trying to secure a top 4 spot in the Prem. If they manage to scrape through to the knockout stages of the CL, that would be probably their best chance of silverware (apart from the FA Cup) and they would put all their eggs in that basket leaving the back door open for that top 4 spot. The league has surely gone now for them.

I'm not sure about how the rule works re Europa for Champs league failures to be honest. Either way anything that makes their seasons longer can only benefit us.
