Shawshank is the most overrated film I've ever seen.

Overrated in terms of it being the best film of all time, which is what the majority of people call it. I thought it was watchable, nothing more.

Watched it once, thought it was average. Was told I needed to watch it again (why that is I don't know). Got through half an hour of the re-watch and had to turn it off.

If I want to see dull cliches on repeat for a couple of hours I'll watch match of the day.

For me it was the brilliant and unexpected way all the storylines resolved and connected in the end. It was funny, clever, thrilling, shocking and boasted an amazing soundtrack and cast. Also quite unlike any other movie I can think of, in structure or presentation. Plus all the badass gangster scenes.
