yeah i agree with all of them but surely beckham should be on there

most overrated player ever

Incorrect!!

You are taking into account the hype around him off the pitch, that does not make him a overated player, he was a fantastic player and still gets the job done!!
i disagree ,beckham is so overrated, stil gets the job done? pftttt yeah right pal

Agree with all except Lahm, one match where Kazim Richards got the better of him doesn't make him a bad player. His positioning is good and he's got good pace and is decent with the ball.

Agree with all except Cech and I know nothing about that Aquafresca bloke.

Agree about Zlatan. Inter must be pissing themselves. They got 40 million AND Eto'o!

Top ten most overrated players?

Well I have got to be in the list. How I made the bench at Norbury Moore Rangers U-12s is still a mystery to anyone that saw me play. Think gash, think gash again and times it by 10.
You were gash then?

Yeah that was before the donner and cans of skol addictions kicked in. By 13 i was really over the hill. Mind you the donner kebab shop and booze shop over the hill and round the corner was fantastic.

Id have hulk in there somewhere and ballack. My number one would definately be frank ribery. Most over rated average player there is going.

Ibrahimovic should be number one, useless twat.

How exactly is he useless?

He's absolutely shite mate! Scores a cracker every now and then, shows a bit of skill here and there... but 90% of the time he's utter garbage.

Berbatov is a great shout too, although I don't think anyone rates him anymore.. would be a fool if you did. :p

I concur. I said as much the other day and a few people on here (who obv haven't a clue ;)) told me I was wrong.

Anyone who's watched Barcelona play lately will know exactly what we're on about.

Yep, watched him against Malaga (2-1 Barca) and weekend just gone away to Almeria (sp?) (2-2) when he got sent off. He was cack in both of those, but to be honest, he's always been the same.

Every major CL game he's been awful too. Especially against English teams.

Petulant like Ronaldo too.

I agree that Ibrahimovic is not all what he's cracked up to be, but surely he is somewhat useful considering his goal scoring record?

how the hell they have rio in there god only knows, for me you can throw Steven Gerrard into there. He is one of the most average players ive ever seen play football. If he didnt play for a global club such as Liverpool, nobody would bat an eyelid at him.

Disagree

he is one player who can help change a game single handedly.

Most football fans are now aware that Liverpool are an average club with two world class players - Gerrard and Torres.

He has picked that Liverpool team up by the scruff of the neck and carried them on many an occassion.

He plays with passion and his goalscoring record is as good as any midfielder in world football today - all this in an average team

I'll never forgive him for the chance he missed against Liverpool for Juve a few seasons go >:(

I have to disagree with this. As much as I hate the cnut, Gerrad is probably the best midfielder I've ever seen play football. He's miles ahead of Lampard, a bit better than Scholes and Zidane were, and much better than guys like Fabregas and Kaka.
There isn't a single weak point to his game, in my opinion. If he was a few years younger, I wouldn't mind us sticking £100m in for HIM

Rooney should be number 1 without doubt. Clichy rightly deserves his spot, absolutely awful defender now and doesn't even offer anything going forward.

Ibra isn't overrated at all, one of the most talented players in the world and 40m + Eto'o was a good deal for Inter at the time, but Ibra suited Inter so much better than Eto'o does and Eto'o in reality has been a bit of a flop. Inter are only where they are this season because of Milito, Ibrahimovic has been sorely missed.

Rooney's been the best player in the world for several seasons, people have just started noticing it more because he's scoring more. Speaking of rags, the one guy (apart from Rooney), who I'd have here is Valencia. Every time I watch him, I like him even more. You can't fill Ronaldo's boots, but Valencia brings a different style of play to their team, and I'd be interested to see how many of Rooney's goals he has been involved in.

Pretty much everybody else at that club is overrated, so take your pick. Van Der Sar has his good days maybe.

Thanks for completely proving my point. Over the course of the past two/three seasons, Rooney doesn't even make it into the top 25.

Rubbish! Name me 25 players who have performed better than Rooney over the past 3 years. Rooney underperformed for about 10 games, got dropped, then came back and has carried United to whatever success they win this year.

I can't understand how anybody with any grasp of how to actually play this game, can look at Wayne Rooney and not think he's fantastic. His brain is just streets ahead of every other player, he runs himself in to the ground and has a win-or-die attitude, and there is literally nothing in football that he isn't good at. He has a trick, he can shoot, he can volley, he can pass, he is fast, he is strong, he can head, he has two good feet, he can cross, he can tackle, he reads the game better than any player I've ever seen and is probably the most intelligent footballer ever.

If he was a City player, you'd be fellating him.

-- Fri Mar 12, 2010 4:15 am --

Oh, and just to say that I'm not exactly a bandwagon jumper with Rooney. I've been saying this for years
