When i start a download off i reach speeds of 1.7mbps for the first few minutes then it drops down to anywhere between 5kbps and 150kbps, does anybody know the reason for this and if i can prevent it dropping. The torrents i am talking about have plenty of seeders and i just cant work out why it keeps doing this.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Google disk overloaded 100, the first link should tell you how to change cache settings.

where u download from ?
How many seeder & leechers ?
Whats your download speed ?
Are u using utorrent or ?

If it is cache which i suspect it isn't at these speeds.

In utorrent "options>preferences>advanced>disk cache" uncheck all boxes and your fine :)

The best client for cache handling is deluge but for up to 100/100 utorrent is fine.
I don't use bittorrent myself always deluge and maybe utorrent for perma seeding.

Just downloaded Utorrent now, looks near enough same as BitTorrent but green ha whats the difference?

It's basically a rebranded version of utorrent. My frind is a dev for them and they have tweaked and added for years now and it has become a very good little app.

Right well now i have BitTorrent, Utorrent and Deluge 1.3.3(downloading) so going to see what i get best results from, im downloading a Boardwalk Empire season 1 (720p) file from Torrent Day got plenty of seeds.

Given the size of that file it's definitely disk overload.

If your stuck after this just download filezilla (free ftp app) and download it from <a class="postlink" href="http://downloads.sourceforge.net/filezilla/FileZilla_3.5.3_win32-setup.exe" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://downloads.sourceforge.net/filezi ... -setup.exe</a>

I will give you login details to my personal ftp server and then you wont have speed issues.

Nothing to do with filesize gaz bud. just set the number of connections to say 70 per torrent and 500 global.

Also follow the steps i put previously for ut settings.

I say it's not cache where as what i meant was it could be but also could be his upload settings.

Some newbies don't limit it and that messes it for them.

Nah mate it is, both bittorrent and utorrent have a notorious bug with torrents larger than 4gb and disk cache enabled on Windows 7. Take a gander at the utorrent support forums.
