Mahrez's touch and control is something to behold. His shooting and decision making not so much.
I'd probably lean towards Dias today just because of the air of calm he brought to the proceedings.
There wasn't a poor player wearing blue on the pitch today though.

Great that everyone got at least 1 vote. The warm up was probably the hardest part for Zack. Well done ref for not following the Sky yellow card agenda.

Really difficult one this one. Pretty much everyone had a decent game. Dias and Laporte both excellent - Kane and Son never got a sniff. Walker right on it today too. Thought Mahrez was excellent throughout and on another day would have got my vote. Kev, Phil and Gundo all excellent. Raz much improved after recent performances - particularly in the first half. 'Dinho was 'Dinho, though tired a bit late in the second half. But for scoring the winner and for spiting the Sly commentary, gave it to Laporte.

Son weeping at the end! He must be wondering why he has wasted the best part of his career there. Kane too. Both good players but the rest of the side is shite. That left back was hideous. He will be having nightmares about Mahrez for months.

Evening News' player ratings:

Steffen: No sign of nerves after last week's defeat, started well with an early punch from a corner and was down quickly to keep out a Lo Celso effort in the second half. 7

Walker:
Handled Son very well to continue his excellent run of form. Reserved while Cancelo roamed on the other flank but still involved in a lot of build-up play. 7

Dias:
Solid as a stick of Blackpool's finest, using his reading of the game to mask his lack of pace against Son. One of the only things missing for Dias in a stadium with fans is a chant. 7

Laporte:
Fortunate not to get booked in the first half after getting caught in possession, then took one for the team to stop a counter and was carded. With time running out, a perfect header to win the game 7

Cancelo:
His best performance in ages. Calm and level-headed in the occasional moment he had to stop Harry Kane and played some sumptuous balls to set up excellent chances. 8

Fernandinho:
Sat back in the Rodri role, prowling in front of the centre-circle waiting for an opportunity to strike. Booked for a trademark foul stopping a counter. 7

Gundogan:
City's focal point in the middle as De Bruyne pulled wide. He provided a few killer passes but his aim was awry when he was in a position to pull the trigger. 7

De Bruyne:
Enjoyed himself a lot more than he did here last week, whipping in an array of dangerous crosses from just about anywhere on the pitch. Got the all-important assist too. 8

Mahrez:
Some more excellent bits of play, including a slaloming run in the second half that drew a good save from Lloris. Has to start in Paris on Wednesday. 8

Foden:
Pressed hard all game with De Bruyne but clipped an early effort wide and then saw a shot from close range blocked by Alderweireld. Struggled to stay involved with playing further forward. 6

Sterling:
Did everything but score. Granted, scoring is what he is in the team to do but he is also there to pressure opposition players into mistakes and he did that brilliantly in a way he hasn't for a while. Faded in the second half though. 6

Rodri (for Fernandinho, 83):
Came on to watch the winner

Bernardo (for De Bruyne, 87): Helped City see it out

We were back as a team today, really good performance all round - and what a buzz to back in a stadium!!!

I went with Laporte, but can understand people going with Mahrez.

1 down, 2nd not too far off now - roll on PSG
