Some very strange reactions. We played brilliantly against United to get here. We really played them off the park. Did we do all that, to now lose this one match and a trophy with it? All in the name of maybe winning a semi-final? And then there's the final to be played. Maybe winning that? So no guarantees whatsoever.
I will never, ever be blasé about being in the final of a cup competition at Wembley. I was too young for ’69. I had just got back from a year on the road in distant lands in ’76, and didn't have a pot to piss in. I was at Wembley in ’81. Then the long, long wait. I have been lucky enough to be at Wembley in more recent times, to see us win against Arsenal and Watford.
If we turn up and play today, threaten them, create chances, maybe hit the woodwork once or twice, and lose, it'll hurt, but I'll accept it. But if it's that snoozefest, that nothing event where there appeared to be eleven zombies on the pitch, like the Chelsea match, I'll be outraged.
