Ladbrokes odds

Froome 4/6
Contador 5/2
Rodriguez 20/1

Quintana 25/1
Van Garderen 25/1
Valverde 28/1
Scleck 33/1
Evans 33/1
66/1 bar

You know, if only it was guaranteed that he could ride for himself rather than in support of Valverde, I'd be very tempted to have a bit of cash on Quintana. I've just got this feeling that he will be a real threat and he's flying under the radar somewhat.

I also can't shake the gut feel that Froome is going to crack unexpectedly one day at the back end of the race, Porte will be caught in two minds about what to do, and while he waits for his team leader, the spanish and Nairo will sail up the road and take some significant time. Maybe it's the events of the Vuelta and that incredible stage to Fuente De that are influencing me, but I just have this hunch that's it's not going to be the straightforward result many are expecting.

E/W with Ladbrokes is only Podium. But i agree Quintana is worth a little nibble at that price.

From those odds a SKY 1-2 with Froome and Porte pays only around 15/2 same as Quintana EW

But if Froome cracks i reckon he would allow Richie to follow any attack as they appear much closer mates than him and Brad were and he knows more than anyone about sacrificies when he was stronger. It will be facinating im sure.

I agree Rascal I'm sure Froome would be prepared to let Richie go, but all it takes is one unexpected attack; Porte is looking for a nod from Froome/trying to judge how he is, the DS is shouting on the radio, and before you know it they've both lost the wheel and are isolated. The beauty of the pressure of the tour :)

Yeah i get it now sort of.

I have been watching the 2009 tour mainly to see how well Brad did as you mentioned it.

On Stage 20 on Mont Ventoux the Schlecks attacked to try and get Frank on the podium and Armstrong followed Brad. The crowds were massive and Brad kept 4th by 2 seconds. I thought to myself what a cool head is needed in such circumstances. The pressure was really on then.

It was a great tour in 2009, so much drama. That was then backed up in 2010 with 'Chaingate' and 2011 with Evans pure grit in the face of the long range attacks of Schleck at Galibier and Contador at Alpe d'huez. Those three years should go down as a real golden age for the race.

I thought 2010 was quite dull bar chaingate, Schlecks just marking Contador all the time, until the chainslip. 2012 was dull, as impressive as Sky were, it wasnt great racing. Following the good, bad trend would mean a good year this year though ;-)

Eurosport all the way for me, more professional (as they do more races throughout the year) better commentators and analysts, Harmon, Kirby and Kelly are a great mix, Declan Quigley hasnt been bad either in the Giro but dont know if he'll be doing TdF.
