Tour De France 2013

I agree absolutely, but don't then come out afterwards and call the other guy reckless and intimate that he could have caused you to crash. In that instance Froome was completely the master of his own destiny, and if ego interferes with common sense then there's only one person to blame. As you say though it's great for us fans to watch :)

I think much is often said in the aftermath of sport that should be treated lightly. I hate post match football interviews for instance as most of them are full of shite. I much prefer the next days having reflected on things.

I would hope on reflection Froome realises he made a mistake but if he doesnt it all adds to the intrigue and possibly fires Contador up more so we will see more exciting racing :)

Yep very fair point mate, I certainly wouldn't relish all my day to day thoughts and mutterings being pawed over and recorded for posterity by TV that's for sure.

Nor me. You just rode over 100 miles up mental hills and come down them like a lunatic and the press expect a serious answer ffs

Its not just cycling thats is a bugbear for me its all sports. After giving your all its just not realistic you can then talk about it in a rational way. Cav was a great example after the incident with Veelers when he stole the guys tape recorder. Yet later he was saying he was beaten by the quicker man in Kittel and thats life and showed no acrimony at all.

But there is no doubt it adds to the drama and thats what we want ;)

Watched todays stage back and Sky were on the front all day albiet not working hard as the break was allowed to stay away. I thought going into the final climb Sky only had Porte and Froome and it showed Kennaugh back with Cav having a chat. Have Sky given some riders a day off? Does that happen?

In his interview Froome seemed annoyed with Contador about the speed he was descending. I don't understand that really, that's the whole point of racing, if you think the pace is too much then just don't follow it - had he done so he wouldn't have had to go off the road.

Just had a little moan at Contador on twitter too:

'Almost went over your head @albertocontador.. Little more care next time?'

For what its worth people attacking him like Contador today make the race brilliant and exciting. Hope theres more people going at it like that in the latter stages.

I think Froome was entitled to have a go at Cuntador.
He tried a daft and dangerous move that even if it had come off would have gained him a handful of seconds, if that.
He risked ending the race for the yellow jersey in the process, and then did fuck all work on the rest of the stage.
It was a pointless and risky gesture that could have put both of them in hospital.
Froome has every right to be angry.
Cuntador and his fragile ego can go fuck themselves.

Thats bollocks imo, its a race, Contador had every right to go for them few seconds though, if its minutes or seconds he still wants to claw as much time back as possible on all of the riders. He made the same move on the two previous turns without error. Just because he had an accident doesn't mean he intentionally went out there to take Froome out. A little moan, alright, that may be sufficient, but at the end of the day they aren't mates, they're rivals, racing each other. Plus why would Contador do any of the work/upping the pace for a group that includes Froome it'd make no sense. Which is why Richie Porte has been doing most of the work.

Sorry NF, I realise you know your stuff and I respect your opinion but I disagree completely. Contador was on the front of the pack with open road ahead of him and is free to take that descent at whatever speed he so wishes. Those behind him have a choice to make, follow him and take the risks that go with it or pick their own lines at their own pace (as Andy Schleck has done in the past or Pinot in this tour). Froome has a comfortable leaders margin and there was no reason why he needed to follow so close if he felt uncomfortable.

Equally Contador not pulling on the flat was only going to damage himself, as it was allowing Mollema to take more time out of him. Quite why Froome and Porte felt the need to pull him the way they did I'm not sure, unless they really believe Quintana can claw back and a half minutes on Froome.

If you remember last time they did that descent in 2011 Contador, Sanchez and Evans managed to take a minute out of Andy Scleck, so it hardly came as a surprise that he was going to attack it this time, we all knew that was coming before the stage began, surely Froome must have done too so he had time to formulate a plan well in advance.

I know it's a race.
But when the leader has over four minutes in hand, and you ain't even second, a stupid piece of cornering that risks both of you to gain mere seconds is just futile.
What is it with Cuntador - 'if I can't win, then I'll take out the leader'?
This wasn't a brave solo attack on a climb - it was being a dick on a technically difficult descent for no great gain.
In cycling you take your opportunities when they arise.
Cuntador has missed the boat in the mountains, and is now trying to save face.
And failing miserably.

Why didnt Kreuizeger wait for Contador

Im not one for conspiracy theories but if Contador had crashed properly and took Froome with him, then who would benefit?

Its all about Yellow you can see why Contador done what he did. He was willing to put himself right out of the race. It didnt work. I have no problems with that. Froome on his part had a moan. No need for him to moan in my opinion. Froome wasnt saying anything when he was following Contador down that mountain?? In Contadors slip stream. Yes 1 mistake can take anyone out if they misjudge it and Contador is 1 of the best at coming down from any moutain top.
