Toure feels Foe City link
October 09, 2009

KOLO Toure feels a particular attachment to Manchester City because of Marc-Vivien Foe.

The Cameroon international is still fondly remembered at City, who retired his number 23 shirt after he tragically collapsed and died while on Confederations Cup duty in 2003.

Although Toure hails from the Ivory Coast, he recognises Foe as one of Africa's trailblazers.

And, to now be skipper of the club he used to play for is a privilege the former Arsenal defender is honoured to have.

"It means a lot to know that Marc played for this team," Toure told the official Manchester City magazine.

"He was one of the great African players and it makes City stick in your mind to know that a player like Foe has played for the club

Nice article true gent lets hope his brother comes in January

The loss of MVF was a main factor in us struggling in that first season at CoMS.He was a fantastic player for us and still remember fondly those 2 goals he scored against Villa on Boxing Day(I think?) at Maine Road.

He also st up Gary Neville to Feed The Goat in the last Maine Road derby AND scored the last ever goal at Maine Road by a city player.

R.I.P Marc-Vivien Foe

It was awful, hearing about Foe. I bet everyone still remembers what they were doing the moment they heard the news.

Gone but never forgotten. Passed away in body but will live forever in our hearts.

R.I.P Marc
