Trailer Time...

I'll watch it but why a super dog!? Are they planning a spin of of super dog movie where is save a dog pound from scruples people [emoji38]

Now that’s better, I wish they hadn’t gone with the dog but I know why, that trailer has got me excited now.

Well, Supe's dog is, actually, canon. I'm not sure why he's inserted into the film, but it's an interesting addition.

What else is interesting is the re-shooting of the 'thrown can' at Supes. There was, quite rightly, confusion as to why the character flinches after the can is bouncing from his head. I think Gunn saw that error and reshot it.

Good, but I'm not quite sold on the character direction or the depiction of the character.

It'll be interesting to watch the film.

Looks like it might be hitting a Civil War kind of conundrum - who is Superman responsible to? Gunn is also a director who makes big emotional moments that I am easy to manipulate into feeling :) probably the first superhero movie that looks interesting in a long while

Agreed.

There was a time in the comics where 'Supes' didn't answer to the president, nor put 'America First'. He was a global citizen that just happened to have his base in the US.

If Gunn goes down this route, it will create carnage for the American viewers!

I thought that about the can as well! He wouldn’t even notice, I fact his hair wouldn’t move either.

What is it about the trailer that got you?

Is 'Supes' more grounded or something?

The grounding does help yep, he's been overpowered for to long. 1st view of superman as a person which I liked, the interview with Lois was good. the fact that he's not representing a country specifically, I never really got along with the idea of Superman as a "soldier" of the US, doing the USA's bidding, but rather an individual upholding his own beliefs that happened to align with the USA's beliefs etc.. Its probably more important now in the film to have that break seeing as US belief's don't match what they used to.

Again the music fitted spot on.

Lex seems better than other iterations of Lex we have seen in a while.

That being said, That animated Superman movie where He's brought up in Russia shows the risks of going down the "not aligned" route.

Okay, stuff I concur with.

And that animated film is "Red Son", a rather excellent play on words if one knows the 'Superman' lore!

Tbf the Zack Snyder version he says the same thing, looking forward to Peacemaker season 2 as well.

Yeah I liked the Snyder Superman character in Man of steel, Although man of steel could have been half hour shorter in my opinion. the end fight was sensory overload for too long for me.

He became to overpowered in Justice league i think. Stepenwolf kicking 10 shades of shit out of everyone and supe's arrived and just slapped him about like a ragdoll. Zero suspense or threat at that point.

Yeah cant wait for Peacemaker season 2. did an amazing job of turning a hated character from Suicide squad into a loved character.

Not directed at you, but I never know what it means when a character can be both 'canon' and 'too overpowered'. Is it to write a new direction for characters ('Hulk' and 'Superman') or stick to comic origins?

In both cases, it seems that they've been depowered and I don't see why. The interesting aspect of leaving original status is the morality of having too much power.

'Hulk' is, literally a 'world breaker' but that takes unfathomable rage to get there. 'Superman' has to fly into the sun to get that 'unlimited' power, but doesn't tend to do that.

Both remain beatable by other means.

We’ve never seen a proper Hulk unfortunately,I’d love to see one where others have to try and take him down as he literally is unstoppable
