Is it best to buy in advance or to get them on the day, going from Leicester to London on the 10th December.

Which site is the best to use <a class="postlink" href="http://www.thetrainline.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.thetrainline.com</a> or is there an cheaper alternative.

Thanks in advance.

I find buying two singles a week or two in advance is cheaper than buying a return on the day.

Trainline is shite tbh mate. They'll charge a booking fee so are usually more expensive than using nationalrail.

http://www.redspottedhanky.com/ offer points per pound spent which can be used towards future tickets

I travelled a fair bit from Manchester to Coventry over the past year and found booking Manchester to Macclesfield, Macc to Wolves and Wolves to Cov was a lot cheaper than one straight ticket. Never had to leave the train.
A couple of times I simply bought Macc to Wolves tickets as I noted the guards only ever checked for tickets during this part of the journey!!! ;)
