If you want to walk up, you'd be better getting the merseyrail up to kirkdale(from central, not limestreet where you will arrive).. about a 10 min walk from there.

Not sure on pubs near the ground..

I'm getting the 2.07 from Euston - is anyone else on this? Get in at 4.15 then taxi to the ground. Travelling on my own so anyone's welcome to share.

11.07 from Picc, quick one in Wetherspoon's then pub round the corner to watch Stoke v Pool then onto the Abbey near the ground (mate's an Evertonian so always go early and meet up)
