Trainee Smart Metering Technician

There's only 3 things an interviewer want to see in a candidate.

1. Can you do the job?
2. Do you want the job?
3. Can they work with you?

As the job is trainee, I suspect that they will simply want to see you are committed to learn. Research the product and how it benefits customers. Be honest and open and nod slowly as they explain things.

Smile, be polite and make a note of names on the panel. Reply to any question using their name as that will make your interview personal and not so formal.

Good luck.

See what qualities they were asking for in the initial job notice or advert and make sure you can give a couple of examples to show you have those qualities.

As many have said, sit up straight and look them in the eyes. Do some research about smart meter roll out, check this out :- https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/gas/retail-market/metering/transition-smart-meters
Practice some questions to ask, think about career progression, further education, movement into supervision etc. If they ask you a question and you have no answer ask them to rephrase it to buy you some time to put an answer together. I guess the job entails visits to houses to install the meters, talk about any job/situation you had that involved dealing with the general public. If they ask you about working extended or odd hours show enthusiasm for it, let them know that you are keen and eager to take the position. Sell yourself. Good Luck

I
I used to work in recruitment and feedback we had from one interview from a client was that they didn't give our candidate the job "as he didn't stop staring at my chest the whole interview"

I make sure i keep my eyes on the prize erm so to speak...
