Training Today 7th April

NMT - since hughes took over have you seen much progression in training from the start till now?

i mean does it look like his training methods, or one on one coaching is very effective and the players are improving?

id ask you how hughes' training compare's to svens so called lazy training but im not sure how long you have been going to watch?!

cheers NTM

I'm seeing plenty of progress on the training ground, the methods that are being put into practice for me have improved the squad's togetherness no end.

It is unexplainable how the results can differ, from away to home, they work on what the opposition will do and work on combatting that for all the matches.

The training methods are also in place at foreign clubs, it looks really good, whilst Hughes doesn't stand there bollocking them, he has staff who will and then he calls them in to talk to them collectively at the end of most drills.

I'm very impressed by it, but then i didn't see much of what Sven did.

excellent, sounds encouraging, i heard they use methods which are in place at the big europian teams, looks like the players just need more time and more matches to start playing better football and getting results, guess we just gotta wait till it starts clicking into place.

Cheers NMT, these updates are class

Comparing Sven to Hughes really is chalk and cheese. The training with Sven never got close to real match stuff but with Hughes it's quite intense and tough. Not quite full all out tackling which could risk injury but strong tackles nevertheless.

Even the warm up stuff now , there is an expectation of real effort to go with variation and some fun. There were some similarities with Sven in ball work but there was nothing tough at all and without coaches pushing them hard as now.

I suspect that that is the exact reason why we had some unhappy players at the start of the season.

But from the training reports etc it sounds like the players have got use to harder training and what Hughes expects of them and now are enjoying themselves more. May have helped getting rid of Jo and TBH.

Oh and for the record Mills hasnt been seen training with the first team at Carrington at all this season. Nor with reserves I don't think

I wish the fans who still chant Sven's name knew just how complacent his regime was

Surely the jury is still out whether a "boot camp" training regime is more effective than a "more relaxed" training regime.

Otherwise we should go the whole hog and get Souness in to manage the club, but there is much more to football management than flogging the players as hard as possible.

.

Nope. When we have a fully fit squad you will see. Will more than likely kick in next season.

Hughes played for Rags,Barca and Bayern Im sure its the way they went about the training.
