With talk of Barcelona signing Pogba and loaning him back to Juve it got me thinking a transfer ban should also mean you cannot negotiate or agree any deals for future purchase whist on a ban.

A ban should mean ban.

Thoughts?

It seems a strange one that but there would be some irony if Pogba was to be badly injured in the course of such a loan and that Barca would possibly lose their outlay on him, and another thing, if he was to be transferred on such a basis, who would pay his wage anyway? Would it be like we seem to do with our loaned out players whereby we have to pay some of that players wage just to get them off the books?

Not sure on the wages part tbh, my feelings on this we could potentially miss out on a top player to a club who is under a banning order. I think the rules need adapting to cover no transfer negotiations or agreed future deals whilst under the ban.

I agree, but by being a major European footballing force, Barca will have a lot more friends to help them find a way around this idea than City would!

Doesn't seem like they were ever banned. The appeal allowed them to sign Suarez Rakatic Bravo and Ter Stegan, all integral parts of potentially a treble winning side and now they can be on their way to signing another world class talent in Pogba who they can afford to not have for 6 months as they still have the quality of iniesta.

Simple! They agree on a transfer fee with Juventus, agree on a package with Pogba and then add one/ half season's worth of that package to the transfer fee and ask Juventus to pay Pogba his wages for that period. Technically, Juventus will be the ones paying his wages but it will be Barcelona's money.

Yeah you could ban them from signing a player and loaning him back to the selling club until the transfer ban was over. They'd just agree all parts of the deal off the record and wait until the end of the transfer ban to sign him then, not much point. FWIW I don't think he's going to Barca.
