We need to inject the squad with a bit of home grown who are willing to fight for the badge e.g. Alex Nimely came on against Burnley and showed some nice touches, but then we also need to bring in some young world class talent e.g. Marek Hamsik and Mario Balotelli these players will think they have something to prove especially at the highest level, and Marek Hamsik is a type of player we have been missing a physical, box-to-box playmaker. We need to sell SWP well to one dimensional i know what he's going to do with the ball before he does so someone like Krasic he can dribble has pace and at 6'1" adds a little extra

I would go for two out of Torres, Villa and Higuain.

I would try and get two out of Gorcouff, Raul Merieles and Sneijder and I would also try and get two out of Chillelini, Maicon and Vidic.

I think, if we get 4th, we will need a four quality forwards. You cannot compete for a top four finish in the League and CL honours without 4 quality strikers. Having Tevez, Adebayor and two of the above three at your disposal would be immense.
I think we miss a creative instinct in the middle as Ireland hasn't been doing it this season, getting either Merieles or Sneijder in would plug that gap for me.

Plus you need four quality CB's competing for places, for the same reasons as above.

difficult because you don't really want 10 new faces around next year

but there are a few problem positions to sort out... and what's more, at least 4 players who are around the team now will either be released and or sold (sylvinho, viera, petrov all out of contract, swp very likely to move on)

one more versatile defender is a must,I think we should upgrade one of the left backs, and of course there is the central midfield situation, even if johnno has a good summer, one DM/CM with physicality and passing abililty is the first priority. with two wingers leaving, at least one more must be added to the squad.

and we better pray to god that ireland gets his head screwed back on soon. otherwise, I think milner has the versatility and attitude to be a huge asset, even if ultimately he lacks a little technical ability.

to be honest I'd prefer us to go this route than going all out for established stars. I'd never be able to think of Gerrard as a city player, and I worry that he wouldn't either. Torres? fantastic player, but a crock, and I believe his heart is in Spain, so let him go their instead. Wouldn't say no to Maicon, however.

^I thought about adding Adebayor to that list, never on technical grounds, not even his mentality, just a question of chemistry with Tevez, and the thought that too much has happened to him whilst he's been here.... but I am very encouraged by his recent attitude, and the signs seem to be that he and Tevez may be able to form a proper partnership. I believe if Ade could just add a little more intelligence to his movement, stay completely focused no matter what, and really channel his aggression, he would be able to devastate teams in this league. he's quicker and a better footballer than Drogba IMO.
