Transfers under the Radar

Having previously had bad press from transfer dealings maybe the Management are keeping quiet and doing any dealings under thr radar.

It makes good business sense although not much fun for us on here. Maybe after the Hughes/Kaka fiasco Cook might have learned a few harsh lessons.

Anybody feel the same

Maybe the problem was the taffia, maybe all the leaks were coming from him and his inbred friends

I still shudder when I hear Bowen openly talking about Kaka being nearly a done deal.

Does anybody know if Mancini is in charge of transfers? I remember reading last week that Cook and Marwood are in charge. Hope its not true but could mean the targets stay the same

Mancini will identify targets and get approval from Cook and Marwood. Highly unlikely a target will be signed without Mancini identifying them in the first place.

again that was the press being convenient with the truth. mancini said in his press conference that signings are handled by him, marwood and cook. What that basically said to me was - he identifies the target and marwood/cook go out and do the rest. just as it is with every other club in the world.

You'd wonder
Isn't that the norm in Italy?

no , in Italy the manager don't do the choice of the target, he can say to the board "I need a CB and a LB" , then is a board choice

Agree - he was saying that he likes the way transfers are done in Italy - i.e. Director of football is involved in all transfer decisons.

Seems that Mancini will suggest the targets and let them pursue the signings allowing him to concentrate on making it happen on the pitch.

Seems to be more hands on than Hughes

Not true. Of course the manager still says which players he wants. But he works closer with the Directors on identifying targets I suppose.
