How are these clowns still in operation?

19.58 service cancelled. This was announced at 21.03. No shit it was cancelled (not that I was actually there for this service) but I did intend on getting the 20.58 service. Guess what? Cancelled. No information given as to why and the only reason I know it was cancelled was fecking about going to the information desk as the platform it was due in at now had a train going to Stoke. Even though it was still displayed in the screen as on time and online, the same. The ‘funniest’ bit was the train driver was waiting on the platform with us and he didn’t have a clue where it was either and soon scuttled off.

But hey, they’d ordered a bus replacement service in its place but couldn’t tell us when it would be there as it had just been ordered (time is now 21.20) or where to go for it but just got told to go outside the station and ask random bus drivers, if theirs was the bus replacement service.

It’s not exactly the first time Transpennine ‘Express’ have offered an incredibly shit service. I thought the clowns had lost their franchise anyhows?? If there ever was a misnomer it was that. Transpennine ‘Express’ pffffft!!

What’s Burnham done about this??

The public transport system in this fecking country of ours is an utter disgrace. And the Government wonder why everyone jumps in a car!!

Whenever I go away abroad, I am in shock and awe as to how other countries have such a good system!! And guess what, not every fecker relies on their cars as they don’t have to!!

Drives me insane!! I’m getting more and more annoyed as I type this. And don’t even get me started on the fact as to how we’re still on diesel engines!

It's a mess because successive governments have focused on London transport and fuck the rest of the country. European countries apper to focus on a fully integrated transport system that is useful and affordable for the whole country.

It's little to do with Burnham as they are inter-city trains.

However, I gather there was a blockage at Marsden due to the weather. So short of having Wizard Merlin available to magic away the blockage, there was bound to be disruption.

One problem caused by privatisation is that crews no longer have wide route experience, which makes diverting trains more difficult than it was. In addition, because of short-sighted transport policy going back 60 years, many of the former diversion routes have been closed anyway.

It's a fucked-up system, but it's what happens when you try to do everything at the lowest possible cost. See also, inadequate carriage provision, lack of ability to run extra trains, etc., etc.

The last time I used these I had a refund for both legs of the journey being late, if you can claim then always do because the facility is there.

Everyone thinks Germany is this bastion of efficiency, but on recent trips there, their railways have also turned to shit.
Some of the local trains in the big cities have been privatised and operated by the likes of National Express, and (surprise surprise) they are an absolute shambles.

Privatision you say? What could possibly go wrong?

Put the claim in anyway. You should be able to do it online. Some companies are easier to do this than others. GWR is a doddle, cross-country was less user friendly. But both got full refunds.

If it was only due to extreme weather and not the company's fault you will get nothing. But no loss in applying.

I have spent a lot of time in Germany and the trains were always first class. Not been for several years tho’. They were run by DFB their equivalent to British rail.
