Trident

The whole point of it is to not use it. It's the threat of using it. You attack us we're taking you down with us rather than us just being a sitting duck without it.

I don't hate Corbyn as much as a lot of people do but I found his hippy "world without nukes" stance so naive. He really though the UK would lead the world to disarm all their nukes? All this while Russia are updating their nukes and America would never ever get rid of theirs. Glad the MP's followed common sense.
Spot on, this is the only language the dangerous people of the world understand, pointing out it's not happened to anyone yet is very short sighted... we don't know what the future holds for the world or how many nutjobs will come into power.

Might not be the best analogy but: If you were a burglar desperate for cash which house are you more likely to target the one with a security light or the house you know there to be a big rottweiler and an owner who keeps a licensed shotgun?

Come on you don't really think the Russians are going to attack us if we don't have that sub do you?

You know Russia have nukes down as a first strike option? Not last resort, first fucking strike. That alone is a reason to have a deterrent. And lets not forget North Korea doing nuclear tests and testing long range rockets.

Perhaps a stupid question but if Trident fired an anonymous nuke at say Country A how would that country and the rest of the world know who fired it?

It's rather sad that we need to spend such money on it, but we do. That's the truth.

No room for idealism or political grandstanding on this.
