Following the usual advice , scaremongering , wishfull thinking ect that goes on here before some games ,i was just wondering if anyone did get any hassle from any Burnley Fans ?

Dont know if anyone has mentioned this as havent read the other pages. I came out the ground and jumped in the car (parked at the cricket ground) we came out and turned left to be stopped by the police who had closed all roads to let fans out. Then after about 30mins it all started to kick off, people being arrested etc (Burnley fans I think?) the police had a list/pic of known trouble makers and were stopping them lurking around the ground. Then there were several scuffles with police clashing in the road with some younger fans of Burnley, we had the police ask us to remove our City scarf from the dashboard and remove the City airfreshener (dads car!) from the rearview as in their words "your car will be targeted". It lasted about 30mins with the helicopter above too. Now it wasnt a fulll blown kick off but their "firm" or whatever had obviously turned out and were being picked off by the police as they walked by. They semmed to have it in hand but wouldnt be suprised if it had kicked of in town later.

None whatsoever . Walked into the town centre before the game in a city shirt. Couldn't get in anywhere as home fans only but got no aggro. Finished up in the cricket club which was a mix of burnley & city and they were sound.
I must be so lucky in that I've now managed to attend Birmingham, Stoke, united & burnley and I still live to tell the tale.
Maybe these scaremongering stories can be binned now as clearly that is all they are. If you want trouble you'll get it it you don't you won't. Simple.
Unfortuantley the Scaremongering stories will be back on when we play you know who in 2 weeks time

You're obsessed with violence.

we had trouble some trouble with burnley fans. it took a fcuking eternity getting out of our parking spot after being boxed in by some daft tw4t with a Burnley sticker in their window. i was so angry i nearly missed my mouth with my cuppa.

as has been mentioned time and time again, if you going looking for trouble, you'll find it or it'll find you. if, like the vast majority of people, you don't want trouble, it's usually pretty easy to avoid.

We went in the cricket ground before and after. Talking to lots of Burnley fans, and they were all good lads. No trouble at all.

No probs at all. They were sound.

Spoke to one of the stewards on the way out and with creditable gallows humour he said "at least we got a corner."

The only "Royston Vaisey" moment for me was when we were driving to the motorway and the people were at stood unmoving, looking out of their the windows in a "we don't get many visitors" style as we were going past....never seen that before..

hahahaha woz on the coach convoy out of the town and saw the same thing all the dingles stood at there windows! woz like something out of dawn of the dead!!

Tip top day.
Went via bacup on route to oaks hotel at reedley to meet up with coach party from city for our scran.
Got held up in bacup centre with the bacup coconut dancers doing their easter clog dance for the locals. Obviously a good clear sign that we were leaving civilisation and getting nearer the ground :-)
Before kick off we drank outside the pub from the ground with Burnley supporters who chatted friendly to us,no animosity, good banter and the bar staff served me and the missus freely evn though we had our city hats on.
After the game same again went in cricket ground, mixed fans and no bother at all.
Walked through town to inn on the wharf to finish off with some cajan dancin as it was burnley jazz festival. Could that guy blow a mean gob iron or wot !
Most fans are just that "fans" only a thankfully few out there intent on thuggery and mischeive.
Enjoyed the away day as good as wolves
When did u last remember going for a pie at half time 5 nil up

B T W away section sung like the "von trap male voice choir" amazing atmos and will remember till my dying day. Worth every penny of £235.
Thank f**k for credit cards !!!

Happy days

I would like to complain about the Police Operation at Burnley Manchester Road train station on Saturday 3rd April.

As I was leaving the train around 2 o'clock myself & another 10-15 people were stopped from leaving the platform & informed that we were being stopped under a section 60 stop & search.

I have since looked into my rights regarding section 60 & would question 3 points about the operation & ask you if the actions of the police officers was in fact illegal.

Firstly I was discriminated against as I was told the police had intelligence that some football fans may be attending the game carrying knives, now if this is the case why would the officers concerned allow some members of our party, who were attending the match, through the cordon with out being searched yet detained some of the same group.

Secondly having been made to stand on the platform & only allowed out 1 at a time we were escorted through a gauntlet of some 20-30 officers up the path to an awaiting officer who then demanded my name, address & dob. At the time I was informed by the officers that if I didn't give the information I would be detained, which according to your own web sites is actually incorrect. During this exchange I was also pushed by an officer & sworn at even though I was not actually refusing to be searched. Another situation then arose as all of the people who were detained had video footage taken of them individually, we were in fact made to stand & look into the camera so that you could get a good picture of each of us. I asked what this was for & was told that the film would be stored incase any trouble broke out later & they could then identify me from it. This information was taken bearing in mind that I hadn't done anything wrong, hadn't been involved in any trouble & you didn't have any grounds to detain me. I would also like to know what will now happen to all my details & film archive as I wasnt involved in any incident & did not give you the authority to take my picture.

The third action that I also believe to be illegal is once the search was completed non of us were given a written record of the search, nor were we given the information as to where we could collect the information.

My belief is that the operation was handled very badly & as I said before if not illegal then I am sure that it didn't meet with the strict requirements that you are supposed to meet.

I would like you to investigate my concerns, explain to me what you are going to do about the manner in which I was treated, what you are going to do about the breach of my human rights & what you are going to do with my personal details that were coerced from me along with the video footage that was taken.

I would also like to be informed as to why this type of policing seems to be prevalent in Lancashire yet we are not met with the same sort of over zealous policing at games we attend all over the country.

Was a regular thing in our days in the lower divisions though, football fans have always been treated as second class citizens
