Sat in East Stand front row 2nd tier directly above and saw it happen. I am your average law abiding supporter but that 'tached steward nearly caused a riot and deserved a lot more than he got. He laid into the crowd and threw a punch or two, some came back at him, he seemed to be enjoying it all. Got me screaming and swearing and if I was down there god knows what i would of done. People on here quoting the rules and all that but they weren't there to see them pick on an old man because they can. No consistency. Villa stood up all game (as usual for visiting fans) - no trouble. Other grounds it's the same. In Europe would they pick on the "ultra" section for misbehaving, standing, getting the flares out and what have you. Why pick on your loyalist fans, those in the former Kippax? We have a seat, in some areas people mostly stand in front of it. These areas are the most diificult to get tickets for, which tells you something. It's not where the families or older people usually go. We all pay our money and these fans are otherwise well behaved. It's a myth that it has anything to do with health and safety, if they want to throw people out to gain brownie points with some jobsworth at the council then start with the visiting fans and leave 109 alone. How about a song for the most picked on section from every loyal fan - "We are 109, say we are 109".
