Trouble in the East Stand??

should be interesting to see what happens on tuesday night. the whole south stand was labelled "singing section" when selling the tickets, are they still gonna tell us all to sit? i've moved from 121 to 113 for tuesday, and i fully expect to stand for the whole 90 minutes!

If the guy was being " A bit of a cock" there is still absolutely no excuse for the heavy handed tactics we and the world have all now seen, Showsec and GMP are suppose to be profressional outfits who are highly trained to deal with
volatile situations on this occassion they not only failed but almost created a full scale riot in their wake.

As I said the club don't appear to have said the action was OK - but it was stated they have said he was being aggressive - all I'm doing is suggesting that for them to say this they must have evidence.

This has been coming for some time. I sit in 109 and every game we have them idiots at the front constantly barking orders at us. They are never in a million years gonna get the whole stand to sit down so why they keep winding the fans up is beyond me. Im sat directly behind the old guy and let me tell you there were a couple of stewards who were far too eager to make an example out of the easiest target. Its no wonder it booted off. The irony is they claim its health and safety etc, well what they did on saturday was far more dangerous than us lot standing up.

I briefly spoke to the copper you see in the thick of it outside the ground and he started going on about how all the fans were pissed trouble causers jumping on the band wagon.....

Things were much calmer second half when the gimps stopped hassling us, i even got to watch a bit of the game...!!

Some of the background staff who work for city are nobs! We should just hire some ordinary fans from south stand to be CEO and work for the club. Nobody knows more about the club than the fans!

Don't know if this has been previously mentioned, but is it not most likely that the "order" to eject the guy came via the radio following a couple of mins surveillance via CCTV?
If this is the case the club & police will have it all from a couple of mins before it kicked off on tape - the club have not as far as know condoned the heavy handed treatment but apparently have stated the guy was being a bit of cock, I don't think they'd say this unless they had evidence to back this up.

IMO
Expect little action, except more stewards and maybe another letter.

Have you seen the video? This was about 5+ minutes after the confrontation started and as we know, anger escalates. So if this is the most angry the guy gets, sat down talking about his medication and to be left alone the I can't see anything preceding it warranting that sort of treatment.

There's a bit too much vilification of this old man in this thread for my liking, starting to smell a rat.

I think what people dont get is that for a public order offence, thats the only thing i can think the police would be able to charge him on, security whether it be stewards or a guard in Tesco. They are not allowed to put their hands on another person or arrest them for that offence.

What training and accreditation do these showsec staff need ?. Also what does the training consist of if any ?.

To me it sounds like many abuse the small amount of power they have at match days. I know plenty of ex army lads who would like a few extra quid who would do this job and would not act the hard man, just keep order...they are trained well in crowd control also.

In good book shops soon, a tale of one showsec guards fight against the evil terrorist group CODENAME : O.A.P

When people don't have jobs to do they make their own. That's exactly what that **** fletcher and that stupid woman and the rest of the SS are doing! People are saying it's bot fletchers fault, he is just another one of them jobsworths in 109. Him and that witch have made it their personal little mission to take 109 and the others think they are some sort of army!

I don't know if it's cos they're bored and want something fun to do or they are deluded and think they're always right or so they can get a fucking well done from the club; but I do know they seem to be eager to attack city fans and take 109 like it is some sort of objective on COD.

We cannot let these thugs win!

My post was in no way a pop at you mate, my point was just to say even if the guy was being a cock then Showsec and GMP should be professional and trained enough to sort it out without resorting to such heavy handed tatics
