Trouble in the North Stand second tier vs United

I'm 100% convinced the tickets are being sold by the club to livefootballtickets at least. I spoke to the club recently to be relocated to sit next to my dad in the east stand. I went to my usual seat in the South stand to chat to a mate i normally stand by and a Croatian lad was there in my usual spot. I got chatting with him before kick off and he explained that he got his seat off LFT for £190, he showed me the ticket on his phone.

I wasn't even shocked to honest.

This is why I believe the club won't declare where allocations go. Bent as fuck.

I don't believe fans are listing them on these sites, I'm absolutely convinced it's the club.

Side note:
He also showed me his confirmation email, it said Block 115 (AWAY SECTION)

That's fuckin reckless, if he turned up in a rag shirt he would have been absolutely levelled.

Surely they must have been absolute weirdos if, as rags, they were willing to join in with the Poznan.

As a rag, you'd surely decide to leave rather than be humiliated like that?

I know plenty of Americans who wouldn’t think twice about taking any ticket they could get their hands on to see a big game. They make a $$$ trip out of it and don’t really care too much where they sit.

American football has opposing fans intermingled all the time and there’s rarely trouble, with certain exceptions. They just don’t think that cheering for either team might get them a slap.

I know…yanks, stupid, blah blah, but tbh it’s a bit silly that it happens to “regular people” who just want to enjoy the game as opposed to the ones who revel in the banter and taunting, isn’t it?

I get it, but I grew up with it. These tourists just don’t know what they’ve got themselves into, so it’s always nice when someone has a word in their ear. Even better when it’s through a steward!

I think they’d suffered enough pain already tbh: 1. no doubt paying a fortune for their tickets; 2. being called out as rags amongst the City fans around them; 3. seeing how shit their team is; 4. feeling obliged to ‘do the Poznan’ in celebration of City’s third goal and United’s humiliation. They sort of slunk out shamefacedly just before the final whistle - don’t think they’ll make the same mistake again!
 
I try to be open minded as I've been to a few foreign grounds on holidays (have always cheered for the home team because I'm not a fucking idiot), but the tourist fans who are just "Premier League" fans with no idea of the actual sentiment of English rivalries are fucking awful.

Look around your surroundings. We don't look like the happiest of people on derby day. Maybe take a guess and just think maybe you should very much keep it to yourself if you claim to be a fan of the other side and you've just scored a ticket on resale.
 
Never seen as many tourists I hope we get relegated to division 1 then at least we we will be able to watch a game without people taking selfies every where

Let's face it the price of success is more half & half scarf wearing tourist fans. What I don't understand if they want a scarf why wear it with the red side showing on the outside and the Blue half tucked in their jacket in a derby at the Etihad. Deserve what they get. CTID

Re. the OP and the following post from @Scaley. If the fan involved really was a complete tourist, i.e. from another country, maybe another continent, they could have been making an understandable mistake, up to a point. I think there are countries where it's sort of tolerated. May be wrong, but I don't think you get into fisticuffs in the States if you're at a baseball or American football match and you do that. If you were in Italy, by contrast, and it was Inter against Juve or Inter against A.C., you'd be lucky to get out with life and limb intact.

My guess he was a Yank. Sports just isn’t tribal over the pond so they’re quite happy to mix with one another.

I don't approve of it. I don't really begrudge them getting the ticket. I just don't know how you're a fan who is willing to pay that sort of money but don't have a passing knowledge of the customs and culture of the sport you've spent $$$ to watch. I'm not being facetious about it. I love pro wrestling, I want to visit to Japan to watch it there, I know that crowds have their own norms that a pissed up British lad starting chants would be told off for. I'm just fascinated by the discrepancy of loving the sport enough to travel but not loving it enough to know there are segregated crowds and a long history of hooliganism.

Selfies are one thing, I'm sick to death of being filmed by tourists for the authenticity like I'm fucking Mickey Mouse at Disneyworld.

Guy next to me in 105 paid £400 for his ticket.

That seat was a season ticket seat for about 10 years. The club have refused to let a bloke a bit further along the row buy it for his son who is desperate for his first season ticket.

It's the club who are the biggest touts not individual fans.

I’m not saying there isn’t some level of responsibility to not blunder into a problem, just that most people wouldn’t expect to get beaten up for it.

And, while we are on the subject, WHY is a good slap even necessary? Yes, we have segregation to avoid a small incident turning into mob violence, but why would one fan get battered and not simply be told to sit down and shut up or the stewards will remove them?

I was raised during the era of hooliganism run riot, but are we still there? Does that mindset still hold? Or, have we all moved on and one foreign fan making a misstep can be easily overlooked…esp considering they have no idea of the litany of “real fan” grievances they represent?
