I didn't know it was him, but when I read about it years later, I remember me, as a 13 or 14yr old nicking a kids united bobble hat as we came out the ground. In those days some City fans used to go round with the scarfs of other fans tied to the belt loops of their jeans, like they were scalps, so I must have thought a kid's bobble hat was fair game. So, I nicked the hat of this lad that was with his dad and ran off. Later, my mates said I was a twat for picking on this 10 yr old, and my older self tends to agree with them. When I read about him getting his bobble hat nicked at a City/Utd game, I just wondered if it was me wot nicked it.
