That was a fantastic result for Australia and as Bill Walker said in an earlier post it will help promote the game in Australia. Very difficult market here with AFL the dominant/indigenous sport and to a lesser extent 2xrugby codes that football/soccer competed with. I know plenty of kids that may have played soccer/football at a young age but end up playing AFL because that’s what their mates play. What Australia needs is to host a World Cup - but other nations being prepared to make bung payments meant that didn’t happen.
