Turkish Barbers

I go to get my head shaved buy an AK47 and spor………..hair wash all my cash .
Very convenient.

It never ceased to amaze me how gullible/ignorant I am, I see a Turkish barbers and I just assume they're doing legitimate business

I assume most are too. I used to live in areas of London with lots of Turkish people and getting your hair cut was a big social activity. In the evenings, rather than go to bars, both sexes would go to hairdressers/barbers and just hang out.

I went to a Turkish barber. Free nose hair removal.
I used to live near a Chinese that was open for years, but never seemed to have any customers.
They weren’t doing free nose hair removal, that was their problem.

The ones I see are always busy.
Think car washes are the biggest tax dodge. Only ever take cash and I would guess that many who work in them are not working here legally.

Might be a north/south thing but down here I’ve not seen one that wasn’t constantly packed with queues of people, there’s three in our town centre and you’re guaranteed a wait if you go to one. I go all the time. There’s one near my work where you get a full experience, drinks, cut, massage, hot towel and face moisturising, then they beat you with a stick of fire. It’s awesome, best quality cut I can get and somehow only costs £30. They have about 8 barbers working solidly through the day. It must be making absolute bank.

And they all take card payments, there’s literally nowhere down here that doesn’t take cards with the exception of one Chinese in the town centre.

You want money laundering fronts. Fucking mattress shops. They have about one customer a day and somehow they’re everywhere, often 2/3 in a small locale. I mean how often do you need a new mattress, really?

Not really off topic as we are thowing random accusations about, a cash only chippy more likely to be tax evading than a barber that takes card payments.
Any business that is laundering money in a competent and diligent way will absolutely take card payments. And will welcome them greatly. The more card payments they receive, the more cash they can launder.

The ones round here are run by Kurds and they take cash payment only. No idea if they're up to something or not but they do a decent haircut for a good price.

I switched to a Turkish place during Covid and never looked back. They are quick, no booking appointments required, and cheaper and do just as good a job.

The old place I used to go was slow, always having to queue as the barber wanted “banter” with everyone (and never remembered conversations from one customer to the next) and then offered you beers / coffee etc, which ultimately was in the price I was paying!

So ultimately I went to the place which suited my needs better! If that’s the same all around the UK, then there’s a reason they have taken over!

Went to my Turkish yesterday and got a decent cut from some very busy staff, doing hair, beards, ears and nostrils. Gave them an extra tip as it was Sunday, hopefully it will keep their immaculate cleanliness standards up and not end up in the pockets of the mafia.
