Turn to Stone.

Well you can buy textured masonary paint. It's a little bit difficult to get a perfectly even finish. You can roll it on, but that will give a very sparse texture. Or you could do what I've done in the past and just 4" brush it. It's basically just paint with grit in it. Not sure if that's what you mean actually.

Pretty much what i'm after with a matt finish.
Getting new windows in on Saturday and the decorative lintel above the window is showing 3 different colours of paint. Ideally i'd blast it back to the stone but not got the time.

Well if that's the route you wanna go, I did a full gable last year in Johnsons Textured Masonary. It was Magnolia, but she wanted it finishing in green. So it was just 2 coats of ordinary smooth masonary on top. It looked well. They don't mix coloured textured paint I don't think, so it's Magnolia or White, and then finish it off in whatever colour you want, in whatever finish you want.

If I understand correctly I did something similar with an old fireplace a few years ago. You can buy specialist textured spray paint from B&Q, not cheap but effective and there is a substancial range of colours including stone effect/colours. I also seem to remember that if you warmed the cans up you got a fine texture and if you wanted a course texture you left them cooler. Try it on something first to get your eye in.

Sandtex masonry , they mix colours now check there website or pick up a leaflet from paint supplier . I use a stabilising fluid first think its branded cu-var or similar , deffo get a small tin and apply after scraping off loose paint . Then over paint with a good brush . Just under £30 for 10L coloured , Johnstones is good , leyland is okay .
